I used nero for 98 and Win2K but with XP there is no need. I know some drives are more reliable than others but i have had problems on 2K with my Creative CDRW (using nero), but on XP i use a Plexwriter and not one single problem.
On the 2K box i had to search and search for media that would work without problems (certain brands refused to work at all) but on the XP box works fine. Anyway, the interface with XP is so much nicer, just drag and drop. When your ready to burn, you just right mouse click on the drive and burn (unless you get autoprompted down on your iconbar). XP burns far more better than nero, however i spose you dont have as many features. But for a person who is not that computer literate, would recommend using XP any time. |

Until OS X (specifically Jaguar), MAC people had nothing to brag about.
OS 9 and below were horrible. I used to do Tech support for a large University (25,000 students and nearly 10,000 staff) and all previous MAC Operating Systems were horrid. From the error messages and on. I will say OS X is a sweet OS, but I've been running Linux and FreeBSD for years now so its not exactly a new technology. I still think Enlightment is the best looking Windows Manager. And I can even make it look like OS X. However, Final Cut Pro is a fantastic piece of software. ![]() |

My above link gave me my answer:
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/informa.../lpg40447.html "Features not supported with the Windows XP IDE driver An IDE driver will only allow the drive to function as a reader. Windows XP-compatible CD recording software is necessary to allow the drive to write to CD-R and CD-RW media." |
