I'm a war monger?

So I'm sitting having a coffee on Powell St. in San Francisco on Sunday when an Anti-war/Bush protest started and the streets filled with hundreds of people.

An old lady walks up to me with a flyer and I just said "I'll pass." Then she calls me a war monger.

So being the polite man I am I returned, "well ma'am, you know what they say. Nuke em' till they glow and then shoot them in the dark."

My retort seemed to really upset her so she persisted, "so you are in favor of killing innocent people?"

My answer was simple enough, "you mean like those killed in the WTC?"

That got rid of her but others did persist with me. Each time I disagreed with them they really got bent out of shape. I just sat there and enjoyed my coffee and their expressions.

It seems to me that it will take more than a few planes and a few thousand deaths on our home soil before these people will realize that it is a big bad world out there and sometimes you must use the sword and not the pen.

It will be ironic when we do get nuked because those same protestors will then cry out, "why didn't you protect us?"

It is one thing to disagree with an action. But to try and emasculate us from defending ourselves and the rest of the free world is nuts.

Polls can be, and are, slanted, dependant upon the pollster, questions asked, etc. There are polls that demonstrate that the majority of the American people are in favor of a pre-emptive strike against Sadam, with or without, a UN resolution, and, with or without, world opinion being in favor of unilateral action by the USA.

I do not listen to talk radio ever. I watch various news shows on TV, including C-Span, and the talking head shows. In addition I have a main stream Website witch has many links to news sources, including international news sources and I peruse those daily. Virtually each media source touts different polls, with different results, almost daily. I am assuming (correct me if it is a wrong assumption) that the only "real" polls as you put it, are those of a left wing funded "think tank" as compared to a "right wing funded "think tank"". I repeat, polls can be and are slanted, so to use any single poll to prove a point is pointless. As for your shitty remark. I am who I am and not someone else so fuck you again.

I am more generalizing.

My problem is that many people protest against WAR in general just because they think it is wrong in general.

India and Pakistan DO HAVE nukes and missils to launch them with. It's a fact. Fuck it wasn't long ago they did tests with them.

The problem with the UN is that it is very difficult to effectively wage war with a multi-national force. You have many many different interests, and languages involved not to mention rules of engagement. UN bureaucracy is very difficult and you'll have 10 different generals from 10 different countries arguing about which course to take and nothing will be accomplished.

There isn't another country that has the financial resources to sustain a long term engagement in that part of the world. However I don't think that we will see a force assembled like that during the Gulf War.

Keep in mind that the quicker we can finish this while minimizing collateral damage is of paramount importance. Not just to us but for the Iraqi people and the rest of the world.

Actually, now that I think about it, it should be done ASAP. No need for UN weapon inspectors. Bush said he will attack if the inspectors won't get in Iraq.

well, Saddam has MORE than proven his word means absolutely shit, and even if the inspectors get back in, they are only allowed access to what was in past agreements... which includes whatever Saddam says it includes..... mostly nothing but old bombed out outhouses.
