They had those taste tests back in the 70s and pepsi won. most preferred pepsi. More recently though it was figured out that people tend to prefer Coke in higher volumes. pepsi is very sweet and with a few sips people tend to prefer it. When you drink a whole can the Pepsi is "too sweet" for many.

Coke seems to dominate the restaurant market here in the US. hardly anyone offers Pepsi. pepsi bought some fast food chains so those do.
