My concerns about Visa new regulations

1. Foreign company needs to register another company in the USA.
2. The URL will be disclosed to VISA and appear on CUSTOMERS CREDIT CARD STATEMENT
3. Keeping Chargeback/Credit under 2.5%; if not : you are out for life.

>1 : I think this is a very complicated thing. Having a US presence it's pretty simple, cost a few thousands for an incorporation and a virtual office... But my problem is about US taxes. You'll need partnership contracts between that new US company and your existing company (i.e. in Canada) We already have spent several thousands dollars on Lawyers and Accounting firms over the past 3 months.

>2 : This will kills the industry. I don't think people will like to see "I like Dirty Fucking Bitches . com" on their credit card statement for obvious reasons.

>3 : Keeping a chargeback ratio under 2.5% is okay when Credits aren't included in that percentage. But keeping Credits and Chargebacks under 2.5% ... it's pretty tight and you are risking big.

On # 2, I am not sure, but I think they only will require something that will id the site, doesnt have to be URL or site name.
Not sure though...

On # 3, I'd like to see the site that can maintain a 2.5 or lower ratio, when counting both credits and chargebacks...

However, this is how I am thinking, and I might again be wrong, but I think VISA will primarily weed out those sticking out with horrendous ratios. As long as you stick with the average ratios more or less, I think there wont be much of a problem.
Again, I could be wrong...

Well I'm not sure either, but I remeber that I read something like this will appear on creditcard statements I.e. : "Ibillcs* Merchant Name"

What the merchant name will be... ? The name of the site, the URL ... the name of the company who owns the paysites? (i.e: CyberSex Internet Inc.) ... some won't be really happy about that

This will cause 100x more chargebacks than it will ever resolve. How many signups are from a husband who will deny till he is blue in the face when his wife asks him why something that shows as bigtits.com or even better gaymen.com shows up on the visa bill.

theres only about 10 characters left over to play with for the descriptor but we had all better hope that something like a numeric ID can be used because if customers know that it is going on there statement they wont be buying.

But mainly, why Visa needs the URL... ? Is it really to include it on the Credit Card statement? Or is it more of a regulations and reviewing policies? Can we decide what will appear on the creditcard statement?
