One of our users reported that his AVG Anti-Virus produced a virus warning (ZenoSearch Adware) for StatsRemote files. We contacted AVG and sent them our whole application to check.
It was actually a bug in their virus database which caused a false alarm and it seems like StatsRemote was not the only software that was affected. If you use AVG Anti-Virus and got a warning as well, please update your AVG and everything should be fine again. Here's the entire reply from AVG: From: AVG Technical Support [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, February 05, 2008 12:34 AM To: ... ... Subject: RE: G#0802433887 - AVG 7.5 Technical Support Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, the previous virus database might have detected the mentioned virus on some legitimate applications. We can confirm that it was a false alarm. We have immediately released a new virus update that removes the false positive detection on this file. Please update your AVG and check your files again. If you need to restore deleted files from AVG Virus Vault you can do it this way: - Open AVG Virus Vault (Start -> Programs -> AVG 7.5 -> AVG Virus Vault). - Locate the file that was incorrectly removed. - Right click on it and choose the "Restore File(s)" option. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Answers to the most common questions can be found here as well: http://www.avg.com/faq/ Best regards, ... ...
