Jethro Tull Live - Bursting out 1978

Well this is a record I have been listening since I was a kid, I remember my stepfather bought it to his brother and I made me a copy on a tape.

But this is seriously one of the best live records of all time in my collection, and a compliment to a highly instrumentally accomplished band with a very original repertoire.

It has the most killing take of the "Ministrel in the gallery" "Aqualung" and "Locomotive breath" I have ever heard, including some great soloing and Ian Anderson is singing his ass of not to mention his trademark flute. I can't comment about the best of the band because they had so much changes in the lineup, just that Martin Barret kills the guitar.

It took me till 1994 till I was able to see Jethro Tull live in a city close to the ass of the world in the country you will never want to visit, the sound sucked balls and I couldn't understand a word (well my English was far from today at that time so maybe I wouldn't understand a word anyway).

But this live take is something that I seriously recommend even to anyone not familiar with the band - the best way to know for sure..

Don't get confused with the extravagant looks of the band - this is no glam.. it's just year 1978

I could never stand Jethro Tull, though most of my high school friends loved them. I thought the lead singer looked like a total wanker, prancing around playing a fucking flute for God's sake.

And yet you spend your free time .... "sitting on a park bench, eyeing little girls with bad intent, snot running down your nose, greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes"

I just saw Jethro Tull live a few months ago. Ian Anderson's voice was shot but the sound was the best I've ever heard at a concert and the musicianship was phenomenal.

I am a fan of the pre-Aqualung stuff... btw, it's Barre, not Barrett but I do agree that he is a great guitar player.

One of the original and most enduring prog rock bands though.

Ah damn, yeah you caught me there. His riffs are still in my head and when I tried to play myself, at the start I found out if I try to make up anything I am coming up with stuff that's quite close to what they play..

Saw Tull in 1974 (Bungle In the Jungle tour). Was the first time that I ever went out and purchased an album within 12 hours of seeing the concert.
