My dog ate a box of smarties. :(

Dog ate a box of smarties, should i be worried? He seems fine, I guess he ate it between 4-8 hours ago while I was out. Always heard chocolate is like toxic to dogs.

Smarties are milk chocolate. A dog his size should be okay.

It's dark or "Baker's" chocolate that's particularily dangerous.

depends on the amount of theobromine in it. Like a candy bar chocolate he would have to eat a shit load but bakers chocolate 4 oz he would be dead.

Thanks guys,

Just did some research myself and the dog seems to be doing fine. I will keep a sharp eye on him for the next 12 hours.

Cheers,

my dog ate a full box of chocolate once (right on x-mas eve) and I had to get him to induce vomitting. Let me tell you it was a very long night

Hope your pup will be ok MC!

dog + Chocolate = very bad actually ..

keep an eye on him .. and even better you should get them to puke it up if possible ....

best way to do that is .. find something long and thin .. say .. ..... your dick and stuff it down your dogs throat until it pukes them all up .. but thats just my thoughts ..

p.s. that is a damn nice looking dog though .. so you better do something quick ..

You guys must have a totally different kind of Smarties up there. Down here Smarties are the equivalent of taking a piece of chalk and chopping it into 20 little round pieces and putting a plastic twist wrapper around the whole thing. And they're sour.

They had the chocolate Smarties in the US when I was a kid back in the 60's. We always got pissed off when they were in our Halloween bags because they tasted like wax compared to M&Ms.

Those US Smarties are called Rockets up here in Canada. They are gross, and you get tonnes of them on Halloween here too. Only boys eat those things. blech!

I hope your dog is still doing just fine and stays away from chocolate from now on ;)

Also, grapes. Lots of random shit is toxic to dogs.

But yeah, a dog that size should be fine, especially with milk chocolate. Keep an eye on him, but I doubt you'll have to deal with anything other than runny shits.

yes of course - chocolate and peanut M&M's - most American candy is available except regional type stuff - even that obscure stuff can be had at the hip all candy stores where they sell all the retro candy

No not at all. But it has todo with the amount of cacao. Dark chocalate has much more in it, than those candybars/white chocalate/milk chocalate etc.
