I'm going to be perfectly honest here. From a webmaster pespective, paying $300 to attend the show floor was probably not worth it. I did love the suite parties, the Playboy suite was really killer, the GT Bill suite, ARS party suite, Hardwood suite for the MGP Dinner, Kingpin suite, all the themed suites had a great party atmosphere behind each one of them. The actual hotel rooms were pretty good as well, and I really liked n9ne restaurant.

What I really didn't like though was the club atmosphere of the show floor. The constant beat in the background and flashing lights (during the first 2 days). Having to go up and down stairs was a bit of a hassle considering the actual floors were very small.

In all honesty, I think dropping the badge price is really a must at this point as the return is really dimnishing from the actual show floor.

I had a good time and got some business done, but I too thought the fee too high. $300 is going to keep way too many webmasters away. I was hoping to see many many more working webmasters there. This one felt like a corportate show to me mostly.

Still.... kudos to AVN for their efforts and putting on a class event.

My coworkers said it could have been alot better. The new layout was alright, different at most.

That's as far as I'm going.

What about 2 categories of badges:

The show floor "Business only" badge say $75 or $100 or something. Then an all access type badge (all parties, etc) for $300+

from a sponsor POV, show was great (in our opinion). We were busy non-stop with webmasters and should have had more staff with us to assist with inquiries on our Design/development biz. 1 major drawback was the music. At times it was blasting and we could not have conversations with our suite visitors. Lighting was a bit dim and would have been better for us if it was brighter.

Overall, great show and made many connections and look forward to miami show. Thanks!

I agree ... I liked the change up but the floor was a bit dark and loud. I found it hard to hold a conversation and i couldn't really scan the room to find people i wanted to talk to. I did most of my networking at the center bar. the other issue was with the private vip rooms as booths. You couldn't tell who was who from the hall way side and when you walked in it always looked like a private meeting you didn't want to interrupt. If i knew what company it was i would have felt much better about just walking in. The ticket price is a bit high and i would be inclined to bring more people with me if it was a bit less (models) .. overall i gave it a 7 for a first shot at a new format that's not bad.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay for Internext. I had to leave right after AVN. However, heard nothing but good things about the show.

You only needed the badge to enter RAIN, all the parties were open as long as you had a hotel key and knew where you were going.

$300 is too much. Make it $50 and maybe you'll attract more newbies. This will give sponsors more reason to exhibit. Make your $$ off the sponsors.

I also prefer a regular hall space for the show floor to a nightclub. Rain was way too chaotic, especially the stairs.

A couple of thoughts that come to mind...

The warmup party was to dark and to loud.

The first day of the show was to dark, better the second day.

I agree on the price of admission...it either A) needs to come down or B) there needs to be some real value for your dollar. I was hoping B would happen this year but it did not.

I did like the fact that everything was close and centralized. Well, as centralized as I think you are going to get in Vegas.

The Palms had its issues, but I ate every meal there and have nothing but good things to say about both service and quality of food. The food came out fast and was SUPER yummy!

It was my first time attending the live domain auction. I really enjoyed it.

The mini schedulers were a great idea. I still prefer when they put the schedule on the back of your show badge.

This did not offend or bother me, but I did hear several people make comments about the food being on the show floor. Not exactly sure what the issue with that was.

I really liked the timing of this show being pushed back. It made for a nice break between the Holidays and the show.

One other thing that bugged me was really not an AVN issue. But I was walking around and went up to a certain company's "booth" to check them out, meet them, etc. and was told that unless I had a scheduled meeting or was a current client I was not allowed. I found this very rude and definitely made a mental note to self on this one.

I think that is about it It was good to see everyone!

Great show Chris , the new show format was much more inviting. As far as the $300 people were talking about - I believe it was worth it & if I recall correctly, there was a substantial savings for early registration.

All in all I'd rate this past show a 10.

I thought the show was good overall, no webmasters really, the music was a terrible idea though, people trying to do business, have meetings and network not dance and party. thats what the parties are supposed to be for.

Actually I have something up my sleeve would kill 2 birds with one stone. When you have some time hit me.

I sympathize with the call for lower badge pricing or tiered system - if my idea works it will kill the current pricing and the one above and bring many more attendees to the show... lets talk.

I completely agree with all of those points - especially the booth that sent ya packing... I assume that they weren't looking for any new business. It certainly didn't make me want to run out and sign up with their affiliate program.

As for the price - didn't it used to cost $175 to get in and see 100+ exhibitors? Now it's $300 for 30 exhibitors, and the doors are only open for 5 hours a day? It's a little steep.

Right on both points - I feel the value we delivered far exceeded the $250 early reg or $300 onsite cost. I still would like to deliver the new webmasters who cant afford that - which is my next challenge.

For people who say there were no webmasters- they were not looking - I chatted with some of the bigggest traffic pushers down to small newbies, agreed less webmasters go to shows - but we do deliver more bodies than any other event.

Speaking of bodies - Boneprone owes me $20

I agree that the warm up parties are better when the music is low. But I REALLY liked the show floor layout. It felt ALIVE...like a bazzar.

the problem i see with that is that you would be creating different classes of webmasters or attendees. The purpose of the show shouldn't be to help divide the people in the industry into the 'haves' and 'have nots'.

I really enjoyed myself at the show and there was only one party I can think of that was hassling people at the door about being on a list. If I want to be hassled about being on a list to get in somewhere I can stay in LA.

I rather enjoyed the club setting and all the movement in Rain instead of a bland convention show floor. Keep innovating!

i danced until like 6am. me and juicy fell asleep in teh rain club in the skybox. when we woke up we were locked in the club. is it possible to get personal assistants to help us get to the room afterwards instead of dropping in the club. there was only one couch and it must have looked a little ghey for the cleaning crew to see us cold and sleeping together on the couch.

It happened to a few webmasters I know as well. I found that to be rather standoff'ish and those webmasters were really offended by it. Assuming its the same sponsor, but chances are it was...

I think the new format worked very well. Each "booth" had a couch and table to spread their wares on instead of just a cardboard sign to stand in front of, and the skyboxes were great for talking business. Serving the food in the nightclub was problematic, though. People had to eat on the benches or standing up in the narrow corridors! The music the first day was quite loud, too.

For the opening party, I was a bit disappointed. I'm not a club type person, so I usually enjoy the warm-up party as it is usually held in a well-lit hotel ballroom with lots of room to wander around and greet people. The RAIN nightclub turned it into just another nightclub party that was too loud and dark to do much in except watch people get drunk.

The badge price definitely seems a bit steep, and is probably prohibitive to the smaller webmasters looking to break into the industry. I guess we'll be seeing those folks mostly at the free or cheaper shows.

Also, I thought it had been agreed that seminars shouldn't be morning events. I ended up missing them all because they started at 10am, which is when I was doing my breakfast and emails and whatnot.

I really liked the size of the hotel. The Palms was big enough to not be too dinky, but small enough to keep people close and the central bar was perfect. Too bad the room service breakfast food was so unpalatable.

Overall I really like the changes to the show floor. It seems to be moving in a good direction!

Thoughtful and well put Elli.

These are all small adjustments we can tweak for next year.

If we have a centralized show floor their needs to be traffic - and I felt that their needed to be a traffic flow - thus the morning seminars. Most were standing room only - and really well recieved.

The badge issue will have light at the end of the tunnel - :-) Stay tuned

Thanks for the input!

I was impressed with the effort put into the changes for INtenrext. You guys asked people awhile back what they wanted and I see you delivered on many of the points.

So things to tweak but overall, a great job. Congrats on implementing. Good points in this thread too.

Change is good

I got ahold of Chris at the Everclear Concert and told him in no uncertain terms, "This was the best show I've been too since 1999".

I still stay by that statement.

Don't worry Chris, Nathan almost sounds alot like Anthony if you look at the letters.

I also want to thank all of you for such an amazing show. The organizers, sponsors, attendees, everyone!
I am new to this side of the industry so I found it very inviting with the club atmosphere. I do understand about the pricing situation and also the music overpowering business conversation. When it was at the Venetian, it wasn't as comfortable. I feel it was easier to break the ice here.
I did a get a chance to meet so many key people who were very helpful and I had some great meetings. I really appreciate the time that you all have spent with me.

I hope to see you all at the next one. Looking forward to working with you and partying my silly ass off as well

Cheers

I loved the show and had a great time meeting with new people. My only complaint is with the seminars this year. There weren't as many choices as last year. I attended every single seminar this year and from each one I felt I wanted to hear more. Also the seminars this year seemed to be mostly for seasoned webvets. There should be more training and advice available for newbies and part timers such as myself.

Chris,

The show from our POV was outstanding. That being said it was our first time exhibiting our new product line, but the show surpassed our expectations. Everyone from Xtreme Revenue had a great time. We had a constant flow of traffic coming thru our skybox on both days. Even with the stairs, none of our girls handing out our promo materials complained about the stairs.

One thing with the skyboxes as MikeVega pointed out, a sign on the outside of the room would have made it easier to identify the companies.

I want to thank you, Sara and your staff for a great experience. We are all looking forward to the next show.

Thank you to all that stopped by our skybox to see what we were offering or even if it was just to see Teri Weigel; we still appreciated it

-Yan

I def enjoyed this year... the show floor format worked well for me, although at some points, as previously pointed out, would've been nice to have the volume a bit lower to still be able to have conversations at normal levels.

All in all, a great experience for Top Choice Cash and me... got a lot of great business done, some amazing new people met, and fun was definitely had...

Chris,

Even though I got bronchitis as soon as I got home and am sick at the THOUGHT of Vegas... I thought the show was overall good.

The show floor I think needs to be taken back to a more well lit one level type environment. Seminars should also be a bit later in the day.

Thats my only criticism.

All in all... great job.

"What about 2 categories of badges:

The show floor "Business only" badge say $75 or $100 or something. Then an all access type badge (all parties, etc) for $300+"

Good idea. It would be cool if the party organizers got the upgraded dollars to recoup their costs a little.

$150 per badge, $300 per badge with parties. The $150 gets split up between the parties as extra incentive for the party organizers. I guess it can be a model that can be worked on. I might even bring the Players Ball back to Internext if I got something back in return. A party rebate.

Overall though Chris, all kiddin' aside, you guys did a great job of re-inventing the show. It just has a new identity, which is also good. The Everclear party was cool too, thanks for making that happen.
