I am disappointed that Thompson beat Paul. I thought that he was out. I am also surprised that McCain did as well as he did. But Paul did get double digits so the night is not lost and makes New Hampshire important.

Shouldn't Ron Paul get his strongest support from the mid-western states.. yet he only got fifth place and 10 percent of the vote in Iowa? That's fucking hilarious.

Only Ron Paul supporters could spin a fifth place finish into a win for their guy.

Fred Thompson has barely shown evidence of having a pulse and he came in 3rd. As for Giuliani, he didn't campaign in Iowa.

John McCain is opposed to ethanol subsidies and he's getting more votes from the world's capital of corn than Paul.

It's great that you love the guy and support him, but to try and spin these fantasies where he's going to win is just tomfoolery.

Paul would be the only republican I would vote for. This is the main reason I would vote for dems in the big race http://www.barackobama.com/issues/te...#open-internet

Im anti war, anti big biz, pro freedom. I could care less what side your affiliated if I can appreciate your values and background. Huckabee, Romney, and Macain are threats to my income and way of life. Survival is my first instinct.

I agree with you snake. I thought he needed to finish 3rd to get some press on his jock. I am happy he got double digit support, but it probably wasn't enough to get him any attention going into NH. McCain took some late votes from Paul in Iowa and New Hampshire might be more of the same. Anything less than a strong third and I am afraid his fate is sealed.

Really? How many Ron Paul supporters declared victory? 1 person said a third place finish would be a victory.. which is true.. thats as high as he could have hoped.. But he finished 5th.. Reaching double digits isnt too bad.. not great either..

He has enough to last the month, but polls drive money as much as money drives polls, and if he doesn't finish at least 2nd in any of the contests before Super Tuesday in a month, he's done.

According to entrance polls Paul was 7% with Republicans but 29% with Independents. Also he was at 21% for voters under the age of 30.

And it all added up to a dismal fifth place finish.

Yeah.. take a look at the sample sizes for the "national polls." Usually about 500 people.

That's a lot more people than showed up for the World of Warcraft march, "Warlock".

From the Ron Paul forums ...

"When we see 10% we are upset and a bit angry. However if a normal person not following Ron Paul sees 10% he is surprised that the candidate that was called Kooky and a nut actually got a substantial amount of the vote, enough to be considered a serious contender."

Paul got over 10% almost 11%. Double digits. I went to the caucuses and I can tell you that the Iowa caucuses are a clusterfuck.
1000's YES I said 1000's of people showed up and ended up going home without a vote.

Don't put too much weight on Iowa caucuses.

There were pictures on CNN, MSNBC and FOX of the lines. i didn't see more than about 10% who looked like the sort of people who would stand in line for "Lord of the Rings".
