What is your tip to sleep fast and easy?

I was trying the count from 300 to 0 that I read in Maxim mag but I stopped at 250 or so because I wasn't sleeping yet.

I'm also too lazy to have my imagination draw up a full sheep going over a fence... and repeat it until I sleep. It takes some hard work to do that.

Force yourself to think of nothing... don't contemplate, but rather allow your thoughts to flow without focusing on anything. This is called free drift meditation and such can also be done by yourself while you do your daily activities or trying to call it a night so you can fall asleep.

i envy those who can just lay in bed and fall asleep after 3-5 minutes

I do a sort of 'name game' where I slowly go through the alphabet in my mind and for each letter I put a female name to it..so, A is for Amanda, etc If I am still awake at Z I then go for male names.

best thing that works for me is trying to watch tv or a movie while in bed.

when I was 12 there was no need to count anything
when I was 16 I counted pussies
when I was 25 I counted $
now I am 33 and there is no need to count as I am not able to fall asleep anyway.

How does counting sheep or "thinking" of girls names starting with letters of the alphabet actually help you to sleep? If I am actively counting I will automatically become even more alert in order to count even more; it's going to stimulate my brain to stay awake so I can keep on counting. I don't think it will get me tired to the point where I will stop counting. How does this tactic actually help you fall asleep??

I have a really active mind that just won't shut up when I am trying to sleep. If I do something like I mentioned, though the sheep thing never worked for me, it sort of focuses my mind on one thing and lets me slip off without different thoughts coming at me from all directions. I have to already be tired but not able to slip into sleep. I couldn't go from totally awake to sleep.

never tried sheep, if i cant sleep i get up and do something til im tired.Alot of times the reason we cant sleep is racing thoughts.

easier said than done. Tried that last night when i was thinking too damn much, pretty much about life and shit that really didnt make me relax and i tried to not think and relax but i couldnt. Went to bed 4am, and was half asleep for the whole time til about 1pm when i got out. I think i need some fucking valium or something, or just get drunk every day.

The best thing for me is to force me to think of nothing. After that I concentrate myself to listen my breathing.. and usually under 4-5 min I am gone !

i can never get to sleep quickly.
i'll lay there for a while and nothing. if i start thinking about house projects i want to do or something like that, it usually helps.
tony is annoying though. he'll say goodnight to me and in 3 seconds he's snoring. jerk!
