If you want to speak about Euro Trash pick another country than the country
that:

- won world championship in hockey for eleven times
- won the Nagano 1998 winter olympics games
- have the first European player ever to win the Art Ross trophy,
- is the home of such hockey legends as the multiple Vezina trophy holder Dominik Hasek, A member of the NHL hall of fame Peter Stastny or the 5 x Art Ross Trophy, Hart Trophy and 3x Lester B. Pearson trophy holder Jaromir Jagr

I have watched the first game and it was some of the best hockey I have seen in a while, the Canadian goalie was a hero with a 44 saves shout out and the 3:0 was a win in a totally equal match. I doubt you even saw that.

I am totally unbiased and only want to watch some good hockey - which happened and time from time I had the feeling it was way more entertaining than the senior hockey.

If you want to continue showcasing your total ignorance and zero knowledge of ice hockey, move on.

NP, I hope to get to check some NHL hockey in person anytime soon.

This junior hockey is actually pretty cool, all the games are on cable here and one of the very few things that's kind of "watchable" during the holiday break..

Two countries with far the highest number of registered junior players in the world?

New Zealand and Samoa are major forces in rugby with far less players than australia, england, france... whats your point? remind me what Czechs won since 1998 olympics where they won on a fluke shot in OT???

The point is unless they are juniors former Soviets/ Russians and Canadians dominate, those two countries are the top two countries in junior hockey, with Soviet Union killing the contest before the break in 1990 and Canada killing the contest after the break in 1990.

Czech Rep is 2 x junior world championships winner from 2000 and 2001 and number three historically in the all time medals rank.

While when we compare senior hockey - the situation is a little bit different, while Canada and SSSR dominated until the break in 1990 (with Canada beeing the main force before the WW II and SSSR beeing the main force after the WW II and the only country called Czechoslovakia beeing able to compete and winning 6 titles till 1990) the situation has rapidly changed after the break of the Soviet Union.

Although Russian hockey had some of the best players in the world, excelling in NHL - they were never able to perform well on the international field, with only one title in 1993 and waiting for the gold for 14 years already.

Canada is tied with Czech Republic (96,99,00,01,05) to be the best hockey team on the international field after the break in the 1990 with five world champs titles, whereas - if we took also one Slovakian gold in 2002 we could even claim the Czechoslovakian hockey is the top performing international force after the break of the Soviet Union, followed by Canada with five and Sweden with four titles.

So the point is - in the recent history - as far as Canada and Russia are still the the top countries in the junior hockey followed by the Czech Hockey, Canada / Czech Rep and Sweden perform better than Russia in senior ranks.

World championships hardly represent the best of the best. Never have been and never will due to NHL season overlap. It doesn't matter what tournament it is it will always be between russia and canada.

Not anymore, Since the break of the Soviet Union Russia has not been able to pull a stellar performance since 1992 Albertville and 1993 WC and finals in Nagano in 98, beaten by Czech Rep.

It's 14 years since Russia has not been gold on any senior tournament / no matter if with all NHL players or without / no matter if world championships / Canadian Cup / or Olympic games - and is a shade of its former fame.

Comparing the olympic gold medals of Sweden from 1994 and 2006 with Czech in 1998 and Canadian in 2002 would actually show a very leveled up situation in the current international hockey, there is no dominant country in the senior hockey, with Russia notably fading away.

Those are just facts that can't be questioned.
