Single and Loving It!!!!

Are we better off alone? Marriage is no magic bullet for happiness, some say.

But medical studies show just the opposite?that married people are happier and healthier than single people.

This is something that CNN posted this morning... What do you think are you better off Married or single???

Better off single... Indeed married couples have a reason to live longer (and even happier): their offspring.

I have been single for the past 5 months and I HATE it!! So now I go out every night, it's the same shit over and over again - it's just empty! Dating in our society has changed so much? it?s so hard to find somebody that you mesh well with.

I do hear what you are saying, I was with my girlfriend and she said marriage kills it, she thinks as soon as you sign that paper that when it all goes down hill... I don't know if I believe it... is this what your married friends are saying?

If 90% of women where not such self-absorbed neurotic basket cases who try to turn every relationship into a soap opera then perhaps dating would be a better experience and guys would not live by the "hit it and quit it" rule.

This is so true!!! because at the end of the day, love fades, but when you are with your best friend, you will always have somebody to communicate with; you will have your best friend your partner in life... this is the best relationship

It depends on yours and your girl/guys personality. If you both are into the relationship, you'll be happy. If either secretly still wants to be single or just isn't completely feeling the relationship, it will be horrible.

I wouldn't say there is a for sure, blanket answer that covers everyone with this.

Been single for 2 years now and I just put myself back into dating mode. Kind of miss the complicity you can have in a couple when all is working well.

I've been happy in relationships and I've been happily single. I've been miserable in relationships and I've been miserably single.

I think you're onto something, Gianna, when you say that dating has changed. I think we CAN ask for more out of a relationship than was previously expected, and it seems like a lot of people just can't or won't live up to these new expectations. Of course you could argue; why should they? It seems like the older and (thus) more confident I get, the less I am willing to put up with in another person. My current pattern is a "3 strikes and you're out" kind of thing. Five years ago I would have felt more obligated to work it out. Now I expect things to be entirely equal.

And, of course, the classic line:
Studies show that married men live longer than single men. And I disagree with that. I think it just FEELS longer.

Married, totally happy... going on 15 years together. Yeah we have had our crappy times, but they are far outweighed by the good stuff.

We both really like each other and encourage our individualism as part of the relationship. It makes a huuuuuuuuuuuge difference.

If you discontinue the desperation and just enjoy life someone will eventually come along . . . or they won't. Being single is not that bad unless you spend it wishing you weren't.

15 years - that's great!!! life is full of ups and downs, money comes money goes but really everything means nothing if you don't have somebody to share it will... and when people understand this they can get through everything in life

Oooh I think that's a dangerous mode of thinking. It sucks to be disappointed, but it's better than not expecting anything at all. What you think you deserve is typically what you shall receive.

I read allot, and they all say you should never have any expectations...

But I think we all deserve the best - therefore I will never settle for anything less then that !

Word! Fun at first, but meaningless & empty pretty fast.

All I know, is when I am old & gray, I hope there is a little old & gray haired man sitting beside me.
