Ok, on Yahoo front page, something about it being controversial, just watched it, there is no explanation why it is. Can someone please tell me why it is?

The underlying metaphor of the books the movie is based on (His Dark Materials) is supposedly an indictment of God and religion... at least that what I read somewhere ;)

It's from the trilogy, His Dark Materials, .... in the end, they kill "God".... so everyone is up in arms because they feel it promotes atheism... that's pretty much it
