Why Don't Hosting Compainies Show The REAL Prices On Their Pages ?
This is a question that's been bugging me for a long time, then the other thread on here came up about hosting, so I figured that I had to ask it.
Why do all of you hosts post prices on their pages, then when someone asks about prices on a board, you offer something much lower than what's posted on your sites ? Why not just post the lowest prices that you offer on your pages, that'd surely make it easier to get new people to join up with ya. I know that I sometimes look around to see what other kinds of hosting is out there comparing to what I currently have, but I'm not gonna go out and email every host individually to ask them what kind of deal I'm gonna get. I assume that what's posted is what I'd expect to pay. |

because there is a lot of newbies with lots of money that will buy it for the price on the main page, without making a deal before

Ooooh thanks people, I now see the method to their madness, ha ha ha. I guess that instead of browsing around, the best thing to do is come on here and post what ya need and everyone will come outta the woodwork with their offers, he he he.

This is all just my opinion...
It's one thing to strike a deal with a new customer for less than your standard rates... and yet another to be a board whore and routinely quote prices lower than are stated on your site on a forum like this. The only reasonable exception to that might be an advertised special or something. Otherwise, be especially leary of people whose site prices are double or triple what they're talking about in here. Hotels do it all the time. One room at one time may be 100 bucks, you call tomorrow, the same room at the same time is 150. Some call it "inventory control" i'll think of the real industry term later.

Well it all makes sense enough... of course sales are made at all different levels. I of course have some variances among my clientele. Sometimes I just wonder about the people that are publicly all over the place though, it just makes it hard to guage where they are really coming from.

I can relate to giving a discount for high consumption. But some hosts drop their pants for 100GB around here!
And do it regularily. Thats what makes it so shady. Is business sooo tough for these hosts? I dont get it. |
