![]() I know this is a simple stupid question... but when you submit RSS feeds to Google and to the other search engines do they need to have a wild card DNS setup for the SEs as to index them separately?
I don't know that much regarding indexing rss feeds... any help would be great... perhaps you could point out a rss indexing site for me... Thanks for your time. ![]() Later, .

A little quantum-x, so then Google does not treat RSS feeds the same way as sub domains then... right?
Could you clarify please... ![]()

Hmmm... yea... I understand that part... what I am talking about is submitting my RSS feeds straight to Google for indexing...
I would like to know if Google will index all my feeds separately into it's data base... and yea Google does allow webmasters to submit their feeds directly... I hope this clarifies what my question is... Thanks for your input.

![]() I had thought my question was straight forwards... perhaps not... Google allows normal static websites + Blogs as to get indexed into their system. Now of course Blogs and their feeds need to get pinged, such was not my question. what I had ask was very simple... using Google normal submit and not its Blog submit... I wanted to know if RSS feeds needed to be assigned a separate DNS record as to indicate such being a unique URL for each RSS feed being submitted ...
Have I still lost you dim wits ? Ps. I really do not think everyone is a dim wit, just the retards... ![]() .

RSS is not a domain.
RSS is a form of XML, which is just another file type, like HTML, PHP, ASP and so on. You don't need DNS entries for each file type, therefore you don't need DNS entries for RSS either. |

![]() 1.) I know how to write xml/xslt websites... RSS & Atom... 2.) When Google indexed my xml/xslt website in the past only the index file was picked up and such got me thinking if I had to associate a URL with each feed just for the purpose of submitting such to the search engines for indexing and that lead me into asking if it was required to have a DNS record so that Google would see each and every feed (plus index) since Google seems to treat normal webpages in such a manor... (sub domains require a DNS entry each)... 3.) Unlike many here at GFY I have experience with XML, but that does not mean that I understand every aspect regarding how the search engines pick up on such feeds. So to recap... Question: a.) If I or anyone else had a website with a directory with lets say 20 rss/xml feeds within, will the search engine "Google" index each one providing you manually submit them? Question: b.) Now for Google to index a website normally there is a index page that is required and for its directories to get picked up normally such gets pointed to a subdomain(s); if Google requires a unique URL just to index a subdomain is it reasonable to ask if Google requires a URL for every indexable file, such as rss and or atom feeds ??? Question: c.) How many of you webmasters actually write and promote RSS, Atom or plain XML to begin with ??? I had think my questions are fair, those retards like "u-Bob" should get a broken nose just for being a complete retard troll, but that will never happen ;) Later, .

Ignore the trolls, I know what you're saying.
Yes, a dns setup is required, and unique ip addresses are recommended, especially if there is any duplicated content in the rss. |

this thread is pretty weird.
What you don't understand is that rss is just a file Do you create a subdomain for every file you have ? domain.com/test.html domain.com/sex.html domain.com/sexdir domain.com/feed1 domain.com/feed2 domain.com/feed3 |

if you can retrieve the rss feed correctly in a web browser, then google will be able to retrieve it correctly too...

It does not mean because I can see the file woj that Google will index it... this is seeming to be a tricky issue. Thanks for your input. .
