I need a kickass Hosting deal...
We are always ready to move our servers to a new home if the deal is good enough. We may or not leave our current hosting company within 45 days... so here's your chance to grab a potential 15000+ GIG/month burner customer within 12 months. What we need: (2) Servers Running on Unix 1. P3 1000mhz, 1GB RAM, 3x72 SCSI HD 2. P4 1.6+ Ghz, 1GB RAM, 18GB+ SCSI HD Bandwitdh Quality (No Cogent!) - 100% Uptime... not 99.8% To start, we only need 1500 GIGS/Month and will grow 10x after that. We pay per gig or average bandwitdh. If you can not offer this below $700/month, don't lose your time. I know real quality host can offer us this at a great price. Same deal if you can not offer $0.30/gig overage on quality traffic. - No setup fees - No long term contract - No early termination fees - Full server stats, MRTGs, Full Support 24/7 + ICQ Support 24/7 ICQ Support 24/7 is a real ++PLUS Let's the SPAM goin' now... |

				 | Contract or no contract, there is something called fair market price. If your bound to a 50,000$ contract now and are thinking of changing to a $700/month commitment you have serious mental problems for not coming up with this absolutely stupefying idea earlier! Why switch? Seems like your making those 50K payments and the bandwidth your using now is premium cuz your always up, otherwise you'd have bailed. All in all I'd say you got yourself a great deal and stick with your current provider.

				 | Dude, just consider the math. Sure, it's possible. But isn't a host that has some margin a bit healthier? Ok, give me $3000 in servers. Lets ammortize that cost over 12 months with a simple interest of 10% on the equipment because it's financed... that's about $275/mo in hardware cost to the hosting company. Also, I want 1500 gigs per month. That's 5mbit sustained or a peak of about 10mbit. If I am a host that is not overselling bandwidth and I have a teriffic price... let's say like Like Whoa, Candid or SinHost... Then my cost for 10mbit is between $400-500. Otherwise, the cost on the sustained 5mbit that might be capped would be $200-$250. That is the cost because a gigabit is running me about 40k/mo from Verio or an equivalent. Do the math... plus people need to be paid, routers and switches need to be bought. I can understand wanting a good deal but the math above is a reality. Shouldn't you be suspect if someone offers exactly what you're looking for now that you know the numbers? Brad

Very well said Indigo, may I just add......Your a waste of time, whoever hosts you at the price and services your asking, is an Idiot, and most likely won't last to long in the hosting business. Just my 2 cents. | |

You said the more I buy... the cheaper it is? Well, listen up because you're about to eat your words. I pay marginally more then those other companies do. Lil 'ole SinHost is at $54/mbit while the above list of companies are paying only a little bit less than I am. So, kiss my butt! I have it cheap too. They just had to buy much more than me to get their current pricing. Brad

				 | I am with Brad on this one Indigo - for a host to make a profit at $700/month is not very feasible. Even if bandwidth were free, it is tough to squeeze a profit outta that. Your host has to cover the cost of your 2 servers... thats at a minimum $275/month cost to the host (Brad is probably being generously low on the cost too)... that leaves $425 per month in profit. Add bandwidth costs of $30/mbps *7.5 (most hosts still pay 95th percentile so they have to cover your spikes, and $30/mbps is a cheap tier1 cost) and that comes out to: $225 leaving $200 in profit. Now a real host has to pay employees ($4000/month each), office expenses, colo fees, taxes, phone bills, inventory, networking equipment and so on. So, after all that shit is figured in, your host is losing money on your business. remember all the dot.bomb crashes? if you are willing to gamble your online business then feel free to go to a no profit host. Save you money in the short run but I hope you have a strong heart to stand the stress when your business goes offline..... well, my two cents. I am sure you dont give a fuck anyways |

				 | Oh, and one last thought - you should stay away from P4 servers.. they seriously suck ass. Intel screwed that cpu horribly - go with P3 or AMD. |
