Someone is using my domain name for spamming - any ways to prevent this?

i'm getting hundreds of mail delivery error messages at the moment cause someone is sending mails with [email protected]

are there ways to stop that?

Spamarrest is good to use,, If it's coming from your domain,, then turn off relaying.

do you own your own server completely or are you shared hosting
if you own your own server you can use SPF it will not eliminate the problem since spam filter now a days will use it to verify the originating server
you can make your domain name less valuable to spoof
they will target a non spf enabled domain since most of their spam will be automatically blocked

Use spam filter no other alternative.I was once getting 1000 mails every hour beacuse of it.

they are spoofing your domain in the return feilds

happened to me.

i was getting like 200 undeliverable returns a minute until i turned off the catch all on my server

fucking pain in the ass

Yeah catch-all accounts are a pain in the butt. Not just with spammers faking the return address, but also with other spam being send to non existing accounts on your domain. Catch-all will just gather all those emails unless you delete the catch-all mail file, I had this happen before and ended up with 2GB cath-all mail files every 2 hours, basically bringing my mail server to a halt. Never understood why the catch-all mail account is created by default to begin with.

i used to get mails with typos in my regular mail addresses from that. but the amount of bullshit starts to get overwhelming
