Google bitch slaps "pay per post" type blogs

Just in case you haven't heard, Google's been on the warpath recently against PAID links. They cracked down on TextLinkAds.com in the past few weeks. Now they are going after bloggers who get paid per post via payperpost.com

What's the PENALTY? Google Page Rank of ZERO. That's right... Google will slap your PR down to PR0 if it sees your site listed as a paid blogger at payperpost.com

http://community.izea.com/blog/2007/...-goes-aft.html

Here's the official comment from the mother company of payperpost.com:
What does this mean for Advertisers?
If you are still using PR as your measure for influence you will be missing out on a lot a great blogs and bloggers. While the general population has maintained their ranking some of our better bloggers have been hit by Google. You may want to consider using Tacks and Alexa instead of PR for future campaigns until we implement RealRank.

What does this mean for Bloggers?
If you have been hit by Google unfortunately there is little we can do. We know that Google PR does not reflect your actual traffic and it is sad that Google chooses to over look that to protect their own bottom line. We now know from some of our friends inside of Google (thanks "bob") that they are now looking for phrases such as PPP, PayPerPost,ReviewMe, Payu2blog, etc. in the text of your post. For that reason I would suggest refraining from using any type of this text in the body of your posts, sponsored or not. When you disclose thank the sponsor, not PPP.

This is Censorship.
One of our programmers actually had his blog de-ranked last night because he mentions PPP often as an employee. He has never taken a sponsored post, nor does he sell sponsored links. He is simply blogging about his day to day experience here. I find this outrageous. I encourage you to write to Google and your Congressmen.
Discuss. I find the "censorship" claim a bit problematic.

More like ridiculous. Google is not a goverment agency. You have no rights in regards to being listed or ranked on their service.

Yep. The US Supreme Court has, repeatedly since the Civil War, held that claims of CENSORSHIP (ie., violations of the 1st Amendment) can be made against GOVERNMENT agencies/entities. Google is a private company. It can do whatever the fuck it wants re speech (unless it does so within the framework of a contract with the US government wherein it becomes a proxy/agent for the government--this is clearly not the case here).

They're definitely contributing to a more "closed" online community, too much I reckon..
Internet to me has always been about pushing further away from monopolizing

The only thing I'll say is there are a number of people on this very board who would not have their beautiful homes and nice cars if Google had found a way to list sites 100% fair and square according to quality and legit popularity.

You see them posting pics of their new toys and all I can think is.... Your high SE rankings may have gotten you that, but the people on page 3 are the ones who essentially paid for it.

I am very much in favor of any measure that nails anyone involved in any type of increased ranking through artificial means. In this case it's the people selling blog posts. They screwed themselves. That is all.

Google is working on doing itself in - mark my words - their downfall will be closely related to their appetite for deciding what we should see.

Exactly. Google's results aren't exactly what I'd call relevant for the most part.

so now the key is to pay payperpost to run your competitions sites as being part of the loop and you can get rid of your competition.

i wonder why payperpost is still a pr6

Other such schemes (reviewme, etc) will probably be next on the list. What to take away from all this: do your link buys in PRIVATE and please... don't be obvious like TLA and PPP, unmark your links.

Ahhh bullshit. Sour grapes. The consumers don't give a fuck what anti-SEO practices they put in place.

No doubt. I highly doubt anyone is going thru the trouble of disabling default filters that filter out some of the results for a given search.

Good for Google !

I think you have great posts $5 submissions, however this one I am kind of wondering about... Google had already indicated within their posting rules that they did not linking schemes and that PR only indicates the amount and quality of such links; and that PR plays little role on bumping up your site in its service.

Webmasters pay money for a service that does not benefit them any; good for Google as to step up and for them to do something. If you look at it in this light... now Google has to use up extra computer and network resources as to process people's websites who are taking or trying to take advantage of Google's system.

Anyone can read Google's submission rules...

Later,

.
