Most Unbeatable Sports Type record ever to be broken

Any record, lifetime, single season, team records, career stats, any sport, any country, top sports type records that will never ever ever be beaten in 300 years. College is fine, High School (it has to be unbelievable)
wins, averages, points, assists, games, any record no single person or team will ever match again. It should probably have been witnessed, no made up stuff.

Throughout the post every 10 posts or so, other gfy members have to agree who is the current leading record of all time. Later on if someone comes up with another record even tougher, then again GFY'ers have to oust the other current leader, the idea is after about 100 posts we will see if the records just keep getting more insane.

I'll start it off, not that I think it's the best but 56 game hitting streak, 7 tour de france I heard some Swedish guy in basketball 272-0 win, had 272 points. Let the debate begin!

The 1979-80 Philadelphia Flyers went 35 games without losing for the NHL's longest undefeated streak.

Dimaggio's record WILL be broken one day contrary to popular opinion.

Cricket.

Don Bradman's Test Match average of 99.8.

Absolutely never be beaten ever.

Rugby League.

South Sydney won 9 premierships in 11 years. (I think !)

That would also never be beaten while a salary cap and other constraints are in place as they are now.

The last 1000 consecutive baseball games have been boring as shit.

Actually, every baseball game ever.

I didn't know that. That would probably get my vote. The odds of someone pitching 2 in a row today would be almost non-existent. To pitch 3, would be as close to impossible as anything in sports.

It makes Babe Ruth look like hit couldn't hit a car stuck on tracks with a steam train. The record is 60 years old and just isn't going to be broken.

1 D. G. Bradman 99.94
2 R. G. Pollock 60.97
3 G. A. Headley 60.83
4 H. Sutcliffe 60.73
5 E. Paynter 59.23
6 K. F. Barrington 58.67
7 E. D. Weekes 58.61
8 W. R. Hammond 58.45
9 G. S. Sobers 57.78
10 J. B. Hobbs 56.94

The rest of the top 9 are seperated by 4.. it then jumps 39 to Bradman. Statistically it's the greatest relative achievement in any sport ever.

It has to be Cal Ripken's streak 2,632 consecutive games played. That is about 16 straight season without missing a game.

Looks damn impressive when showed like that

By that standard Wayne Gretzky's all-time points record of 2857 should be at least comparable. The all-time leaders:

2857-Wayne Gretzky
1887-Mark Messier
1850-Gordie Howe
1798-Ron Francis
1771-Marcel Dionne

If you do the math, someone would have to average 150 points a year for over 19 years. Very few NHL players ever play that long - and 150 points even once is very hard to do. (I don't think it's been done this decade?)

That record is safe for a long time.

I forgot about that one....I can't see anyone beating that.

How about Nolan Ryan - career strikeouts (5,714)

He still long holds the records of 58 cans of VB (Victoria Bitter beer) on the Sydney - London direct Qantas flight ...

58 x 600ml (7 ounces ??) cans of FULL STRENGTH beer (at like 4.8%, not American "full strength") in like a 21/22 hour flight.

And HE walked unaided from the plane.

Legendary.

163 assists in one season by Wayne Gretzky

How many even get 80 assists in a season these days

Gretzky when he was much younger, got 357 goals in one season I think playing with older people. That's crazy.

50 goals in 39 games
79 games hardly anyone does it, I could go on and on with Gretzky

215 pts in one season? over 200 4 times?

Sid Crosby who every one thinks is the next best, if you add his stats this season He may do 125pts+ that's still only slightly over 1/2, that's crazy.

I know nothing about Cricket so I can't relate, is that like a homerun?

University of Oklahoma's 47 game winning streak was broken 50 years ago today. Still the longest stretch in college football and probably will be for a very long time.

Jerry Rice - Total receiving yards - 22,895

Harrison is the closest active player and still needs about 9 x 1,000 yard seasons to catch him.

The fact the Gretzky averaged 200 points for a 5 year span and nobody else has gotten to 200 points ONCE is unbelievable.

Boonie sounds like a great guy/athlete though both scores are impressive...lol 58 cans in one flight is insane. Is his record for one game or a career? If it is a just one game then I am going with Gretzky hands down. Obviously, career numbers are harder to beat then one game feats.

Ripken's record probably won't ever be broken but if it is it won't necessarily be by one of the best baseball players of all time. Ripken was amazing don't get me wrong but he is arguably not even the best shortstop of all time. (Honus Wagner.

Gretzky takes this in my opinion

Sunday November 4th 2007, Antonio Cromartie of the San Diego Chargers scored a 109 yard touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings. He returned a missed field goal.

His foot was as close to the out of bounds line as it could possibly get when he caught the ball.

That record CANNOT be broken. Only tied.

My favorite as an OU fan.

But any of these UCLA basketball records will be tough to beat:

seven consecutive NCAA titles
38 straight NCAA tournament victories
88 consecutive game winning-streak

I'd say it would have to be Mark Grace putting down a pack and a half of smokes in the Cubs dugout every game. Don't anyone else will pull that one off.

Obviously it's over his entire career, averaging 99.9 for one game isn't all that impressive.

Not a hope in hell.

Remember that this average was for TEST MATCH cricket only, not including one dayers or 20/20 or anything else.

It is light years beyond where anyone will ever get, and also remembering players are player MUCH older these days they still have not got a hope of getting close in any reasonable number of games.
