Need some auto Car battery help

cheers!

i left my truck sitting around for two months.

then it would not turn. however, the radio powered on. flipped the lid and saw that the battery leaked a little bit. the posts were messy and the top of the battery was covered in juice. it did not drip onto the floor -- meaning the tray caught all the drip.

i cleaned up the posts and connectors with a scrub pad with baking soda/water. i filled up the eight battery holes with a little distilled water as per my truck manual. now the vehicle will not power anything. no radio even!

so, when the battery was messy the radio turned on but the engine would not turn.
after the battery was cleaned up nothing powers on. why?

what should i do?
jump?
or get new battery?

thx!

Get new battery plus odds say yours should be under warranty. I know our batteries have a shit long warranty.

If it's leaking, it's time to replace it. You can get $10 or so for the core for the old one. They're under $100 (usually way under). Don't fuck with something thing that makes you walk; winter's coming.

important

after cleaning yet before adding water the truck would not turn. so claiming it wont start due to a diluted cell might not be true.

i added about a pint.

The radio takes very little power, probably when you tried to turn it over a few times, you sucked the remaining power out of it, even if it didn't turn over, it still sent the power to the starter, just wasn't enough to turn it over.

I would buy a new battery, for around $100 you can prevent one of the most common causes of your car/truck not starting.

Think about having your truck stall in a busy intersection, and then not starting because of battery trouble - not fun.

I buy a new one every 4 years or so trouble with it or not. Particularly in my wifes car, because I know a dead battery would probably mean new car time...$100 cheaper than $30,000. Same goes for tires.

Cheap peace of mind

well i bought a battery charger and hooked it up after charging it full. now all truck lights turn on. the engine turns but wont start. the dash shows fuel but no oil. after attempting to start the truck 3x i looked at the oil stick and it shows normal oil levels. however, there is a strange smell to it when i get close. it smells like cloudy vintage car exhaust.

anyways, i posted about this issue on a forum dedicated to my truck make and model. we will see how it goes!
