Hello/Goodbye

i flew out on Friday the 13th to attend my grandfathers funeral and just returned today

my 40th birthday is on September 22nd

my online business was growing yearly but for some reason took a complete nose dive since September of last year

been in business since 1998 and it was a good 5 year run but it appears like i'm going to have to call it quits...unless a miracle occurs in the next few weeks

i'm currently writing and producing a television show on the environment that i hope will go into production next summer and will probably continue working in the movie industry for another year

just wish that i could continue working in this industry as well

would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people on this board for making me laugh on a daily basis and a special thanks to Lensman for creating an environment that allows us to play, vent, learn and express our points of view

i will continue to post on this board and still look forward to keeping in touch with all the people that i have had the good fortune of working with through the years

i'll still be hanging around Amp

and believe me...this is not an easy decision

but when i moved to Calgary/Banff to work in the smart card industry, i ended up getting burned and lost everything (house, RV, savings, RRSP's, etc) as well as racking up an enormous debt

i've been battling that debt for 5 years

i'm about 40k away from paying a debt that started at 110k and it looks like i'm now fighting a losing battle

if my online business cannot produce the income to pay down my debt and provide income for day to day living then i have to seriously reconsider my vocation

hope this at least cheers you up bro'

nothing short of you being the Bank Of Amp and approving a small loan could help me at this time

but you could send me a few pedes so that i could release them in the bank that will not approve my small loan

i'm in Regina

originally from Toronto and then thought i could make my fortune with this smart card company in Calgary

i was in charge of the pilot project of smart cards being used in Banff (Banff Springs, select stores downtown and other locations)

left Calgary two years ago and moved to Regina to do some work in the television/movie industry

That's certainly nothing to laugh at. If you find that you are going to shut down or otherwise dispose of such assets, catch me on ICQ, as I'm interested in purchasing smaller properties with potential.

hey Rocky. i don't know you but i see you've mentioned your grandfather passed very recently. i am so sorry for that.

a word of advice: grief manifests itself in many ways. one of the first things grief counsellors tell those who have lost a loved one is not to make any life changing decisions for a while. there's a feeling of powerlessness that accompanies many folks when they are grieving. it's natural to believe we can regain control by reshaping our lives.

wait a while before you give up. you've just lost someone you loved and that's enough for you to deal with right now.

then again, i could be full of shit. happy birthday!

i'm glad you're enjoying yourself at the Banff Springs, it's an excellent place - i have a real fondness for Johnston's Canyon and Jasper as well and hope to take another white water raft trip down the Maligne River

while all the things you mentioned are somewhat true in my situation, it may end up being the hosting company that i use that pulls the plug

i'm just trying to find a way to survive

it's really great. i lived in banff for almost two years, and only moved back to edmonton about 4 months ago. if you know banff at all, our office was below the rose and crown, accessed by the back alley. we use wireless internet, so it was cool to head up to the bar for a beer, and still be connected at the same time

i walked by the other day and took a picture. it's still empty...

Perhaps some of us could donate a small amount to smooth out some of the bumps. Do you have a paypal account? Donations of nice TGP spots may also prove to be helpful.

i think i only went into the rose and crown a few times for drinks

spent most of my time eating and drinking at the bar over looking the golf course at the Banff Springs Hotel

sounds like you had a pretty great location to be working from quiet

very kind frankfortuna

i don't have a paypal account and no offense, i'm not looking for donations...i may be feeling ashamed and inadequate right now but i've always worked for my money

my TGP's are not generating as much traffic as they used to but i could certainly swing something that would be worthwhile in that area

Professor Rocky! Say it ain't so honey! You can't leave.

My condolences to you on the death of your Grandfather, I know how hard a loss of life can be on someone. I almost had a nervous breakdown back in 1997 when my mom passed on. It really rocked my world.

On a brighter note though, happy early birthday sweetie!

I do hope that all turns out well for you and that you find a way to settle the turmoil & unrest in your life right now. On a more selfish note, I just don't know who I'm gonna troll the boards with in the wee hours of the morning now. I'm really gonna miss your presence here.

Hey Rocky what do you do for the movie industry?

I used to do special effects, but that's a dying business so I got out while I could.

Yeah right? It seems as though more and more movies are coming out with better & better special FX, so one wouldn't think it was a dying business. Just my

Rocky --- Definitely talk to Turbo.

And shoot me an icq, and we can exchange phone #'s. There are some things you and I can discuss for ways to keep you in the game. You need some pages out there generating you income that don't cost you any overhead, and I have ways of doing that very thing.

Let's talk. 31024634

Turbo & CDSmith, you guys are so nice to help Rocky out like this. I only wish there was something that I could do to help as well.
It's so refreshing to see webmasters sticking together and helping one another out.

Rocky,

We've been acquainted for a while and I'm sorry things haven't worked out as you have needed them to. I know you're genuine and hard working, it's always frustrating when bad things happen to good people. Myself and many of us here will keep you in our thoughts and hope that in some strange way everything ultimately works out for the best.

With regard to hosting, you've got a place here at SinHost. If it will help your situation you're welcome to burn a few thousand gigs here this month or over the next few months. I can have you setup in no time, just let me know.

Hit me up on ICQ!

Brad

My condolences to you on the death of your Grandfather, I know how hard a loss of life can be on someone. I almost had a nervous breakdown back in 1997 when my mom passed on. It really rocked my world.

On a brighter note though, happy early birthday sweetie!

I do hope that all turns out well for you and that you find a way to settle the turmoil & unrest in your life right now. On a more selfish note, I just don't know who I'm gonna troll the boards with in the wee hours of the morning now. I'm really gonna miss your presence here.

hugs right back at you Professor Deb

hopefully we will still be able to find the time to finish that rocket engine for NASA

And shoot me an icq, and we can exchange phone #'s. There are some things you and I can discuss for ways to keep you in the game. You need some pages out there generating you income that don't cost you any overhead, and I have ways of doing that very thing.

Let's talk. 31024634

With regard to hosting, you've got a place here at SinHost. If it will help your situation you're welcome to burn a few thousand gigs here this month or over the next few months. I can have you setup in no time, just let me know.

Hit me up on ICQ!

Brad
