I'm not sure about the A4 but I have driven an older model S4 (2000 - or2001) with the squential twin turbos. Now that car was a real treat to drive, it had power in every gear no matter how low the rpm's were and the handling was impecable. Drove it up to Whistler and even in the snow it was difficult to kick out the rear end.
I have owned 4 BMW's and still have one (old school e30 325 with lots of performance mods) I will probably never sell that car, I have had it for nearly 20 years and has always been really solid and reliable. It has taken a beating over the years and still runs great although I havn't driven it in a few years. It needs a paint job and a few other minor repairs. I will most likely do a full restoration on it and add a few more performance mods in the near future. The only reason that I havn't been driving it is that I have a Jeep that I have as my daily driver now that is more suited for my needs at the moment. I don't really do all that much driving anymore and I couldn't justify having both vehicles insured when I would only drive the beemer a few times a month. Plus I couldn't really take the dog in the beemer as I would be constantly worrying that he would damage the leather or something else and he would get fur over everything. I don't have to worry about that sort of thing in the Jeep I don't even have carpets in it so when it gets dirty I can just hose it out, pull the drain plugs out of the floor and viola good as new ;) My personal prefrence would be the BMW over the Audi, and from reading some of the responses in this thread the BEEMER would be the car to go with, but it seems that your daughter is really set on the Audi. I guess you will have to do a little more research to make sure you don't end up buying her a headache indtead of a good reliable vehicle. |

you really have to teach your kids the value of money when you earn your money, you appreciate it if you receive everything you want, you get spoiled (in 99% of cases) the first car can be as well a used car, no need for a new one, neither a luxury one well but if you're really a multi-millionaire and so are your friends and everyone in your neighborhood, then perhaps different rules apply :upsidedow |

I want her in a car with all the right safety features, navigation, panic buttons and so on. For a 350.00 lease a month that is worth it to keep her safe. |

I was taught the value of money. I was never given any. So I learned to earn it. :)

I have Audi A4 and really recommend it!

When I was that age I was no different, I too wanted a car. My old man said "You want a car? Great, go get a job and earn one" Which I did. I was even able to take out a small loan ($1200 I believe) from my bank, which I paid off in 1 year. The car: a steel-blue '74 Chevelle Malibu. That was in 1980 that I bought it, and although it was my first car I can tell you it meant a great deal to me. A great deal. I don't begrudge my dad one iota that he didn't just go out and buy me a car. I realize others have different circumstances in their family and lives etc, but it' s been my experience that every time I hear about a parent buying their kid a new car it always ends badly for all concerned. The kid invariably just doesn't value it like they would if they had had to work for it and aquire it themselves, and they end up smashing the gift up. I'm sure there are exceptions out there, and exceptional kids. I just haven't known of any, that's all. |
when your parents are millionaires that changes everything. You guys are living in the 80's.

raves about the 2007 RS4 and where he says several times...this is MUCH better than any M3......b.t.w. the Audi isn't double the price of an M3 An Audi RS4 in the UK costs 50K pounds sterling......I don't believe you buy a 2007 M3 in the UK for 25K pounds sterling :thumbsup |
I love the Audi A4 Avant. In my opinion Audi has better quality than BMW and in Germany Audi was voted the best car brand 3 years in a row.
|
And to proof I'm not joking......here's the Top Gear Audi RS4 Test
https://youtube.com/watch?v=KVwWybsFAQ4 Stick that in your sports exhaust :winkwink: |
i would take the audi as well.
Dosent sound good what happend to you BradM.. but audi makes damn fine cars imo :) edit... not that i ever owned one lol |

btw, totally cool what you did for her man! Much respect. If I ever have kids, I'll be making a deal like that with them, such as the one you did with your daughter. Sounds like she's making you proud, she sure deserves a nice car. Sounds like you got a good one there! |
Audi all the way... IMHO safer too
|
I have a BMW 3 series, very nice car, Audi's are nice but have to be maintained

She clearly knows the meaning of work. She is putting 18hours a week in the DA's office and is a full time student. I prefer to look at it as incentive. Everynight you turn on the news and you see kids getting into all sorts of trouble. My daughter knows the rules,if she continues on the right path, she will be rewarded. If she doesn't she will just be another schmuck with a bunch of sorry excuses. One semester when she was in highschool she fell of highhonors and the eclipse was parked for a full quarter. I've never had to park her car since. |

BEEMERS totally rock!! They are one of my all time favorite cars. My little 325 fits me like a glove it's definitely a drivers car. In the cockpit all the instruments and gauges are in the perfect position for the driver, and with it being lowered with Bilstien racing suspension it really hooks up nice on the road. I can literally drive sideways down the road and then ease off on the accelerator a bit and bam it will pretty much straighten itself out. They handle pretty good with stock suspension but it's like night and day when compared with the bilstien's. I sold a bone stock beemer to a buddy a few years back and he did a few mods. when he got it. Exhaust, ram air with K&N filter charger and a few others pretty much on par to what I have on my current beemer, but without the suspension upgrade. I had the opportunity to drive the car a few months back and although being quite a fun ride I could really notice the difference the suspension makes and not just in cornering. Acceleration with the stock suspension isn't as snappy due to body roll and it doesn't hook up nearly as nice in the corners. |

My later comments in this thread were pointed more towards all the parents out there who just go out and buy their kids cars as presents simply because they can afford them. From what I've seen of it that only serves to further spoil them, rotten in many cases. I don't see Minte and his daughter falling into that category, he seems to have found a way to ensure she has a good work ethic, which is the main issue here at least as far as I'm concerned. |
Bmw is more reliable.... audi + vw bahh problems
|
Tell her to go and get a job and earn her right to own one.
