US Precidency election / candidate status? Can you americans fill us in?

Are here some americans who can update us non US residents about what's the current status is?

Questions:
Who is still trying to be candidates on both sites?
Who has a change of being primary candidate for each party?

what does most of the population expect to happen?

What do you personally think will happen?

From our point of view it's a question about if Hillary(Woman) or the black guy will be the candidate for the democrats. So basicly a choice between a woman or a black person. In my eyes both a risky choice if you want the conservative republicans to vote on the candidate.

I haven't heard what the republicans are doing.

In short, can someone summarize what's going on.

The front runners who ever they will be will be tweedly dumb and tweedly dee. Not too much of a difference they will have the same multinational corporate money sponsoring them. One will use a religious agenda to further restrict freedoms, the other will use security to do the same. In either event the wars will continue, peace is bad for business.

In summary the short lived American Empire is in decline. Time to learn Mandarin.

I never like to discuss politics but since you asked, I will just give you my opinion. There are about 15 total who are running. The frontrunners for the Dems are Hilary and Barack Obama. For the Republicans, I would have to say Giuliani, Mitt Romney, and Fred Thompson. I have always been a fan of Giuliani regardless of how many failed marriages he has. I think it's a coin toss who will be the primary for the dems between Hilary and Obama which I don't think either has a chance of becoming President especially if the war doesn't tank. The Dems need the war to fail if they want a chance in the election.

Again, this is just my opinion. No attacks please. I think it's a big mess right now and will continue to be for a long time.

I like Edwards but don't think he has a good chance. I still have it in the back of my mind that his wife has inoperable cancer...It has to take a toll.

for the dems, it will come down to the two that you mentioned.

I'm a registered dem, but am changing parties for the primaries, so I can vote for paul.

HE WILL LOSE...even though he has the most clout amongst ANY candidate...I challenge any AM on that btw,

Once he loses, I will vote Obama, because I think he will win the dem vote. Hillary is the Guiliani of the dems...

BUT what do I know...I'm from a part of the country that hasn't voted repub since reagan and a man who invested in gold.

Even though I was too young to vote, I liked Reagan.

I can't even watch Hilary and wish she didn't have a vagina.

Tricky007, sorry so few answered this question.

I hope it's a lack of time and not a lack of thought, since I have already answered.

I also hope it's not a lack of balls since so many seem "ballless" when asked directly...

Discuss bitches...

My opinion is:

It will come down to Hillary for the dems and Giuliani for the repubs. the election will be much closer than many might think but in the end it will be Giuliani. I say this because of these reasons:

1. There is no real candidate that the far conservative Christian right supports. They have said as much and there is a strong chance they will choose not to support any of them in the primaries or they will scatter their votes across several candidates. Of all the republicans Giuliani is the best known and many think he has the best chance to win the white house so the more moderate republicans will ultimately support him.

2. The Hillary machine won't be stopped. She has something more valuable than any amount of money or any collection of endorsements - Bill Clinton. Love or hate him he might be the best campaigner in the history of politics and she will ride him to victory. Also, many dems are seen as pussies and will not play too dirty or fight back against each other. Hillary will eat her young to get a win so she will do what she has to in order to get the nomination.

3. Once it comes down to the Hillary and Giuliani there is a strong chance that the Christian right will support Giuliani. They don't like him, but they hate Hillary so they may support him just as a way to combat her. Also, he has a chance to win New York. There is no other republican that can say that. If he wins New York the election is over. Because of our outdated electoral voting system anyone west of the Mississippi doesn't need to even vote if he wins New York. Even if he doesn't win New York he will make her fight for it which makes her fight for a state that is normally a democratic stronghold. Every minute and dollar she spends defending NY is a minute and dollar she is not gong to spend trying to win one of the 10-12 "in play" states. Ultimately most people in the US know Rudy as the guy that stepped up on 9/11 and that will carry him a long ways. When they go to the voting booth they will have that thought in their head and they will ultimately go with him.
