My opinion is:

It will come down to Hillary for the dems and Giuliani for the repubs. the election will be much closer than many might think but in the end it will be Giuliani. I say this because of these reasons:

1. There is no real candidate that the far conservative Christian right supports. They have said as much and there is a strong chance they will choose not to support any of them in the primaries or they will scatter their votes across several candidates. Of all the republicans Giuliani is the best known and many think he has the best chance to win the white house so the more moderate republicans will ultimately support him.

2. The Hillary machine won't be stopped. She has something more valuable than any amount of money or any collection of endorsements - Bill Clinton. Love or hate him he might be the best campaigner in the history of politics and she will ride him to victory. Also, many dems are seen as pussies and will not play too dirty or fight back against each other. Hillary will eat her young to get a win so she will do what she has to in order to get the nomination.

3. Once it comes down to the Hillary and Giuliani there is a strong chance that the Christian right will support Giuliani. They don't like him, but they hate Hillary so they may support him just as a way to combat her. Also, he has a chance to win New York. There is no other republican that can say that. If he wins New York the election is over. Because of our outdated electoral voting system anyone west of the Mississippi doesn't need to even vote if he wins New York. Even if he doesn't win New York he will make her fight for it which makes her fight for a state that is normally a democratic stronghold. Every minute and dollar she spends defending NY is a minute and dollar she is not gong to spend trying to win one of the 10-12 "in play" states. Ultimately most people in the US know Rudy as the guy that stepped up on 9/11 and that will carry him a long ways. When they go to the voting booth they will have that thought in their head and they will ultimately go with him.
