For Windows Vista Security, Microsoft Called in Pros

Quote:
When Microsoft introduces its long-awaited Windows Vista operating system this month, it will have an unlikely partner to thank for making its flagship product safe and secure for millions of computer users across the world: the National Security Agency.

For the first time, the giant software maker is acknowledging the help of the secretive agency, better known for eavesdropping on foreign officials and, more recently, U.S. citizens as part of the Bush administration's effort to combat terrorism. The agency said it has helped in the development of the security of Microsoft's new operating system -- the brains of a computer -- to protect it from worms, Trojan horses and other insidious computer attackers.

"Our intention is to help everyone with security," Tony W. Sager, the NSA's chief of vulnerability analysis and operations group, said yesterday.

Oh eek...

Guess thats why he turned over the source code to the chinese to proove that it was not some spy tool. Also to allow them to add in their own encryption.

Fuck it I like Gates and Microsoft. I also find it funny that MS is beating Linux in China. Linux is more expensive cause it uses more disks.

Windows Vista will be as secure as MS DOS, Windows 95, Windows 2000 and XP, all secured by the NSA. Lies, lies lies. The US Congress remained silent as usual, like a good little dog.

The NSA installed backdoors. It was revealed in this article.

http://www.techweb.com/wire/29110640 September 03, 1999
According to one leading U.S. cryptographer, the IT world should be thankful the subversion of Windows by NSA has come to light before the arrival of CPUs that handle encrypted instruction sets. These would make the type of discoveries made this month impossible. "Had the next-generation CPUs with encrypted instruction sets already been deployed, we would have never found out about NSAKEY," he said.
