Scariest kids movies?

Of course inspired by tomorrow's date....

What do you remember being the scariest kids movie when you were a kid.

I don't know if it was the scariest but the other day I saw an advertisement for the Care Bear Movie 2 and I flashed back to just how scary the first Care Bear Movie felt when I was a kid..particularly at the end.

Sleeping Beauty was kind of dark. Or maybe it was Snow White, which ever one had the witch that talked to the mirror.

I was really into Count Yorga, Vampire. Very scary stuff when you're nine. I have it on 16mm film now, and it's not so scary when you're in your thirties. It's actually hilarious. Count Yorga is very low-tech, and he actually hides behind doors and jumps out at people.

Another one I was terrified of (of the commercials--I never saw the movie itself until a year or so ago) was The Children. The one with the bus that drives through a radioactive cloud and turns the kids into black-nailpolish-wearing zombies. That one, too, was hilarious when viewed in adulthood.

I was so terrified of these things, but my kids think they're too stupid to watch. Which never stops me from making them watch them with me.

It's great I know. I guess I was a bit to youngh though. That flying dog, mega turtle (and I like turtles hehe) and ligtning shooting statues kept my parents up for a week or so.

Oh snap poltergeist! Watched that for the first time with my friends when my parents were out for dinner. I was 12 or something. Brrrr..... and some of my friends were late and started slamming on the windows... I've never seen a girl freak out like that.

I did get to hold her for the rest of the movie.

When I was little the movie Cat's Eye scared the crap out me.. but for actual made for kids movies that were scary as fuck here's my list:

Return to Oz:
Way too creepy-

Willy Wonka:
Had some scary parts, like the boat ride. Also the part where he yells at Chartie always bothered me alot.

Watership Down:
Nothing like watching bunnies rip eachother's throats out.

The Plague Dogs:
A childs introduction to Animal Testing.

My memory of seeing Return To Oz in the cinema when I was a kid was a girl behind me yelling 'No DOROTHY, NO DOROTHY' at every nearly scary scene.

Watership Down scared the crap out of me and was also an early lesson that just because it is animated doesn't mean it is for kids.

I don't know why but the Dark Crystal didn't really freak me out, I loved it.

My dog isn't really fuzzy, but he has separation anxiety and he flips out and screams whenever I leave him. sometimes I think I should have named him Fizzgig:

I was just talking about that last night. That was a seriously dark morals play. You lie, drink or smoke and you turn into a mule.
