because most "webmasters" are pussys and have never been in a fight. 99% wouldn't know the first thing about boxing. Insurance for boxing at a show is probably another reason...

Arnt most such things regulated and need permission by some authority or body?

Unless maybe people get oversized gloves and sumo suits or something like at the fairs.

Yup big pain in the ass.. Insurance, boxing commission, city permits. nevermind getting anyone to even fight.. Only thing that would work is oversized gloves etc..Not worth it any other way

There was abit of boxing on the devilswheel at the octoberfest gathering...

From what I understand in the states, you would need insurance because of the sue happy nature of people not being responsible for their own actions and from what I understand its quite costly...

i know a LOT of real boxers. i never boxed but used to train with a lot of them.

boxers are not fighters. they are highly trained athletes.

boxing takes intelligence and - most people don't realize this - but the ability to TAKE a punch. anyone can be trained to hit - few can TAKE it. boxers are scarry cause they can TAKE it. they have a serious scarry focus on that point.

hiring bouncers now for a nightclub i own and am opening in a couple months - when people tell me they know how to fight i don't hire them. means they WANT to fight. we have a couple guys who listed boxing on their resumes - none of them brought it up in the interview till we did - both talked it down. both highlighted they will use their words to get out of anything before physical. EXACTLY the kind of bouncers I want. friendly - total confidence with anyone and if the shit hits the fan can level ANYONE.

if you want to spot a boxer - look for a fucked up nose and coliflowered ears.

SMART people looking to fight AVOID people with coliflowered ears above all else. Those guys can take SERIOUS punishment and usually doll out crazy punishment as well - you can't stop em. those are the ones to be afraid of.

I've bounced in Downtown Toronto for years - and can count how many fights I've been in with one hand. You're not there to fight - you are there to defuse a situation. You get to many posers who want to wear a t-shirt and look tough. That's not the security industry. It's just that making people feel secure enough to have a good time.

Whats with all this talk about the boxing commission and insurance and all that shit? Can't just box for fun?

I realize this will open all kinds of stupid shit about not seeing me doing it or whatever, but I don't see why everyone can't have fun with it?

boxers are not fighters. they are highly trained athletes.

boxing takes intelligence and - most people don't realize this - but the ability to TAKE a punch. anyone can be trained to hit - few can TAKE it. boxers are scarry cause they can TAKE it. they have a serious scarry focus on that point.

hiring bouncers now for a nightclub i own and am opening in a couple months - when people tell me they know how to fight i don't hire them. means they WANT to fight. we have a couple guys who listed boxing on their resumes - none of them brought it up in the interview till we did - both talked it down. both highlighted they will use their words to get out of anything before physical.

Those guys can take SERIOUS punishment and usually doll out crazy punishment as well - you can't stop em. those are the ones to be afraid of.
dude, just save money and be the bouncer yourself!

... then again, when you're in front of the door noone would be able to get in in the first place

Like I said before due to litigation (arena/venue can be held harmless via waiver) of other fighters and judges etc. It would have to be oversized gloves, waivers, and be more for fun with the possibility of some grudge matches. Hell I would love to hire a fighter since I could not go toe to toe with someone.

no man, oversized gloves etc give it a more childish feel... just a normal boxing match really gives you a kick... and in the mind it gets more serious, more exciting and more competitive.... wouldnt you love to let it all out on a fat webmaster? I know i would

1. unless other webmaster had their legs tied to a wheelchair and then we could battle, no I shall stay out of a ring
2. Sorry just being a realist, sure it would make it childish though I do not see any other way it would happen.
