I can't say for sure as i've never seen one all the way through but isn't it just an overglorified torture movie?

No, not in the least. I dont like over gory films, but I loved the Saw trilogy, and Im looking forward to 4

The first one rocked, they've kind of gone downhill since then, but even the sequels are still better than most horror flicks.
