I am looking for dedicated server for galleries...

I am having too many problems with the hosting company where I have my server right now. As I said in a previous thread, my server crashed too many times in the last 10 days and I lost a lot of traffic, which hurted my business.

I am looking for a 60 MBPS dedicated server I will use mainly for galleries and to host a few blogs. (I will host most of my other blogs in a separate server though)

Xeon or Core 2 Duo would be ideal
4 GB of memory would be ideal
100-200 GB HDD
Unmetered server based on 95th percentile rule
Linux Centos or FreeBSD on Apache
10 IPs
Mysql, etc etc

24/7 support. (and good support please)

Basically, I want the same as I have now, but I don't want to have problems with my server as I have now.. I have been with this company for almost 3 years with not too many downtimes. But all these problems I had lately give me no chance, but to move on..

I am paying $850 for my server, so I am looking for something (more or less) in that price range. (However, I have seen some guys paying 600 for the same server in the same company)

But anyway, tell me if you we can migrate all the content hosted in my current server to the new server with not much downtime. Maybe setting all up, and once all is up, change nameservers on my domains.

Please review my needs and if you can supply that, leave me your contact info.

Thanks.
Lamis.

Take a look at Alphared, they offer unmetered servers with those specs for about the price you're looking to pay. Even cheaper if you go with their value network.

Not sure why people recommend these guys, they seem overpriced to me. Can you get deals significantly cheaper than what they list on their website? They're charging $1299/mo for a 50Mbps server.

Here's the problem IMHO.

You want to pay Yugo prices for Lexus hosting. What you're going to end up with is Yugo prices, and lots of PROMISES for Lexus type quality and service.......but you're still gonna get a Yugo, and it's gonna break down in a couple of months and then you'll be back here looking again.

That could well be your problem . With the number of request that you are guetting, your hardware is not up to par.

Forget the Core 2 Duo. As for the Xeon, may I suggest that you look into a dual xeon, with at least the 4 gigs of mem, but preferably 6 gigs. Also, scsi drives you be a plus.

Bandwith is not what is causing your server to crash.

If I were you, I would look into doing a colocation deal, where you can upgrade your hardware at a very small cost as needed.

And no, don't hit me up, I am not making any offer on this .

Good luck.

Very true. I am currently on a pentium 4 with 2 gig of memory hehe..

They told me they were going to upgrade my server many days ago.. but they did not.. and that's one of the reasons why I am moving..

Thanks for the suggestion.

Core2Quad Q6600 is just a beast. Plain and Simple.

The Q6600 will dominate your site. Unless the Xeons are the NEW Clovertown and you are using ** 2 ** of them, then any other older Xeon will DIE at the hands of a Core2Duo E6600... not to mention the Core2Q Q6600.

Thanks Jamie!

I'm having an off day since I quit smoking and was late putting on the patch today. So, let's see what happens when I offer him a Ferarri for a Yugo price.

I'll do $850 for the following:

60 megabit capped in the switch
Fully managed, monitored
Dell PowerEdge 850
Quad Core Xeon 2.4Ghz
4G RAM
2x250 SATA
CentOS

I'm stepping out to lunch for an hour but if you catch me on ICQ, email or my cell we can get this rolling for you. Best network, support and datacenter. Don't be silly, call me. Offer is open to everybody else, too.

Cheers,

Brad
