Any doctors in the house?

I spied my MRI report, but I don't know what the hell it means.

"There is a small amount of dorsal edema along the posterior lateral
aspect of the right ankle. A mild to moderate fluid about the peroneus
brevis and peroneus longus tendons is present. These findings may
reflect peroneal tendinitis. "

"There is a small amount of fluid in the tibiotalar joint. There is
evidence for at least mild degenerative osteophyte formation along the
medial aspect of the middle subtalar joint."

IMPRESSION:

1. Peroneal brevis and peroneus longus tendinitis.

2. Areas of dorsal and lateral subcutaneous edema and small amount of
tibiotalar joint fluid.

Am I going to die?

subcutaneous edema is fluid, happens when you got a football knee, the other I dunno no doc here just recognizing a few things

all its saying is you might have some small pain, but it SHOULD heal itself or you may have to have a small operation...nothing to worry about.

dorsal, posterior lateral are just directional terms... most of the other stuff is just geek speak too.

Basically you've got some fluid in your leg. good job.

lots of our doctors are vietnamese, meaning my education and hometown environment (Cabramatta) help when they say shit like "yu egnant" when they really mean "Your Pregnant"

Am I going to die?

It means you either sprained your ankle and you have some damage to the tendons and have fluid build up (hence the swelling in the ankle) Or, you have a chronic problem that has built up over time

* Immobilization. A cast or splint may be used to keep the foot and ankle from moving and allow the injury to heal.
* Medications. Oral or injected anti-inflammatory drugs may help relieve the pain and inflammation.
* Physical therapy. Ice, heat or ultrasound therapy may be used to reduce swelling and pain. As symptoms improve, exercises can be added to strengthen the muscles and improve range of motion and balance.
* Bracing. The surgeon may provide a brace to use for a short while or during activities requiring repetitive ankle motion. Bracing may also be an option when a patient is not a candidate for surgery.
* Surgery. In some cases, surgery may be needed to repair the tendon or tendons and perhaps the supporting structures of the foot. The foot and ankle surgeon will determine the most appropriate procedure for the patient?s condition and lifestyle. After surgery, physical therapy is an important part of rehabilitation.

You will live - i suggest putting on a splint cast and keeping your ankle elevated above your heart to lessen then throbbing if you have a sprain
