Murderous dictator.
Not like there are not 500 other little brown whackos out there that we do not feel the need to remove from power. ChrisH is so painfully ignorant I dont know whether to feel pity for him or to believe that he has somehow found the key to true happiness. Ignorance is bliss. Idiots do not know they are blithering idiots. Must make for a restful nights sleep wrapping yourself up at night in a blanket of ineptitude. |

After watching the inspectors come and go for the last 10 years, I cannot take any joy in the fact that they are allegedly going to allow the inspectors back in. I hope it avoids war - but I doubt it.

most times they interefered those same inspectors testified the other day before the senate armed services committee that it would take more than 1000 inspectors and army of helicopters, trucks etc to make them mobile enough to be marginally effective and they know that will never happen. when asked what could be done to carry out effective inspections, they said simply that the only way is to join hands with enough people to stretch accross the country and walk from north to south. biological and chemical weapons were burried underground, in tunnels, abondoned car and railroad tunnels, mine shafts and even near water resevoirs where they felt they would not be looked for. the whole idea is just an excuse to declare war. Saddam Hussein will not allow inspections to happen under the terms and conditions of the existing resolutions. he certainly will not allow them under the terms of a new UN Security Council resolution which will guarantee a much higher degree of intrusiveness. nobody beleives he will and no one expects it to happen. |

They should already have inspectors on a plane heading over and show up and see how genuine their offer is. Fuck wasting anymore time. If they are sincere there should not be one reason why they would not let inspectors in immediately since they supposedly have nothing to hide.
I bet the inspectors will get there and sooner or later will not be allowed to go into certain areas and the same bullshit as last time will start all over and then the shit will hit the fan finally. Toast 'em and get somebody better in power. I seriously doubt they would let Saddam's son or anyone remotely related to him be placed in a position of power. I can see them being held on some kind of war crimes charges. Time to take out the trash.

I don't think the inspectors will do anything at all. Sometimes it just seems like dimplomacy is a pain in the ass. It's just another wall for the people who need ass whoopin' to hide behind.

Attacking Iraq after they agreed to let weapons inspectors in, is not good for Bush his international image. (although I don't think it can get any worse). The UN resolution calls for the return of the inspectors and Iraq now has agreed to honor the request/demand.

Would you let UN inspectors in if the previous members of those teams were actually spies for other nations?
Like the US, Iraq has a right to protect national security. |

they dont have a right to anything when they are violating international law, attacking their neighbors, killing and murdering their own people, sponsoring terrorists, plotting to kill our then President Bush etc etc etc... the list goes on forever. they are in violation of the terms of their own surrender to the UN, and they continue to build chemical, biological weapons supplies while seeking to attain nuclear weapons. they shoot at US and British planes patrolling the "No Fly Zones" which they agreed to and which was instituted by the UN. he spends billions on building new palaces and resorts for his own elite, while his people starve and pussies like you bitch that WE are committing genocide. he spends hundreds of millions of dollars to keep rebuilding surface to air missile sites so that he can illegally shoot at allied planes patrolling the "no fly zones" he continues to smuggle oil for cash in violation of the terms of his surrender to the UN. fuck iraq its time to start sending a serious message to all these fuckers that there are behaviors the international community will and will not tollerate. people like you argue and defend a terrorist and murderer and wait until he nukes a fucking city before grudgingly agreeing that something should be done. |

The purpose of the UN weapon inspection agency is to examine possible sites where weapons of mass destruction are being created. Just because oil king Bush and his butt buddy Blair say Iraq has weapons of mass destruction does not make it so. And who gave Iraq biological and chemical weapons. that were used on Iraqi civilians and other groups? |

Bush has to go with the inspectors, he has no right to demand the change of goverment in another country. If he got that what would he ask for next?
The inspectors go in with fine tooth combs, with the US troops siting in waiting for the day they find something or get thrown out. |

If you guys are so worried about the road to Baghdad, you should read about the road to Munich.
Little history: The 1919 treaty of Versailles established Rhineland as demilitarized buffer zone between Germany and France. When Hitler reoccupied it in 1936, it was violation of that treaty. Hitler gambled his european pussy neighbours had no appetite for fighting. He was lucky. Europe's leaders allowed Hitler the Rhineland, Austria and finally in Munich Czechoslovakia. Their reward for being unwilling to fight lightly armed enemy in 1936 was that they would fight a well armed one in 1939. Europe will never learn. |

Pleasurepays hit it right on the nose! Arms inspectors are only one of the problems with Iraq. When Iraq surrendered after being defeated in the Gulf War the "no fly zones" were put into place, and US and UK jets partol these two areas.
This is very similar to the demilitarized buffer zone in the Rhineland as during the 30's. Now Iraq feels they can shoot at US and UK planes on patrol in these two areas. It's pretty simple - the US and UK are patroling an area set up by the UN, and Iraq is shooting missles at the planes patroling this area. That in itself is grounds for an attack.

Who gave Saddam weapons?
France provided Saddam with extended-range Super Etendard aircraft capable of hitting Iranian oil facilities in the lower Gulf. While Britain's Margaret Thatcher mouthed platitudes about not supplying either Iran or Iraq with lethal weapons, Britain's Plessey Electronics supplied Saddam with an electronic command center. Iraq was also able to buy French-built Mirage-1 aircraft and Gazelle and Lynx helicopters from the British company Westland. In 1976, while on a visit to France, Saddam concluded the purchase of a uranium reactor. Jacques Chirac, then the Prime Minister and now the President, approved the deal. The supplier was Commissart à l'Energie Atomique (CEA) and the plutonium reactor was called Rhapsodie. France also signed a Nuclear Cooperation Treaty with France, providing for the transfer of expertise and personnel. In 1978, the Italian firm Snia Technit, a subsidiary of Fiat, signed an agreement with Iraq to sell nuclear laboratories and equipment. |

Europe's pusillanimous response to the prospect of renewed military action against Iraq is actually easy to understand. Visit any "NATO capital" and you'll find a place overrun with refugees from former colonies, pervasive political, economic, and spiritual exhaustion, government beset by internal EU bickering, and fragile left-of-center political coalitions agreeing on little other than curbing U.S. influence.
Euro-business leaders are afraid of losing their exclusive "Axis of Evil" cookie jar where they operate sans American economic competition. "Nobody in Germany or Continental Europe agrees with Bush," Holger Friedrich, a fund manager for Frankfurt-based Union Investment GmbH, said recently, as his firm purchased Iranian bonds that will fund the radical Islamic theocracy in Tehran. Britain's Aberdeen Asset Management Trust has invested in Iraqi and North Korean debt. "It's toxic stuff," admits Colm McDonagh, an Aberdeen fund manager, "but when it moves, it really moves." In 1997, Total SA, a French oil company with permanent suites at the Al-Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad, struck a $2 billion natural gas contract with Iran. On the occasion, then-Premier Lionel Jospin applauded this triumph of French enterprise. "American laws apply in the United States," he sneered. "They do not apply in France." The timorous grandchildren of those who tried to appease Hitler have other worries. They do not savor the prospect of U.S. intelligence teams roaming at will through the records of Saddam's WMD - weapons of mass destruction - factories and exposing Europe's complicity in building these arsenals. After the first Gulf War, Kenneth Timmerman chronicled in The Death Lobby Saddam's success in gaining the help of foreign corporations and governments in building his storehouse of ABCs - atomic, biological, and chemical weapons. Little has changed. French engineers helped build the Iraqi nuclear reactor at Osirak, which the Israelis destroyed in 1981. To this day, the French hold $4 billion in unpaid Iraqi debts. German firms specialized in providing poison gas and missile technology. W. Seth Carus, a senior research professor at the National Defense University, noted a decade ago, "Everything that showed up in Iraq - chemical, biological, nuclear - had a German element in it." And Saddam's "Supergun," the long-range, nuclear-capable cannon that was almost operational during the Gulf War, was produced by companies from seven different European countries. |

I hope you Americans do not go in, you don't need to anyway. One squad of intelligent dedicated men could go in and take Sadam out. But, as some wise person commented "power vacum".
Sometimes the devil you know is the better one. I think that America is going to war because it stimulates the economy and right now the whole world is on the edge of a rollar coster going down. This war creates jods, sends oil prices upwards and gives people something else to think about, instead of the spiralling stock market. To the people on this thread that said bomb them have obviously never seen the destruction a bomb creates. A bomb does not care if you are a child or a terrorist. It will kill you anyway or tear your limbs off, leaving you to die of bloodloss and shock. A war is not some movie you watch on TV, that you can switch off and go to your safe warm bed. When you go to war, you leave yourselves open to the same distruction and fear that you have inflicted on other. When that terrorist dumps a load of chemicals into your water supply, and people start to die. Don't you think that a diplomatic solution would have been better? We are living in the 21st century, we call ourselves civilised and yet here we go again into another war. Humans it seems never learn. Let Bush take Sadam on face to face. I would watch that on TV! ![]() ![]()
