				 | I am a Nikon man myself, but I trust dpreview.com I think BMB is a Canon shooter, he is a good source for info. Hopefully he will jump in on this. Sinclair

				 | Another Nikon lens fan here. But Sigma and most other after-market glass manufacturers aren't as good as either Canon or Nikkor lenses. Don't skimp on the lens. There's a reason after-market are generally cheaper. |

				 | I fully agree about the after market lens. I am looking for something along the lines of 28-300 f/2.8 IS lens. if you could recommend one that you are familiar with I would greatly appreciate it.

The camera store I deal with has a 30-day 'try it out' policy on new lenses and they'll allow no-question returns provided the lens is undamaged. Maybe you have a similiar policy store available? | |

				 | You can rent lenses from most all pro photo shops, I would suggest renting it for the day, and seeing how you like it. 2.8 will always be more expensive, so if price is an issue, there will be a significant price difference between a 2.8 and a 4.0 |

				 | I'm a Canon girl, and you don't want to waste your time with any lens but a Canon one. What's the lens for? Why a 28-300? |
