I've seen it. I don't like movies which treat violence as with such aplomb. That said, I enjoyed the ending. I felt it moved much too slowly and had too much girly dialog also.

I Liked it; learned to watch his films at a different level.

Reservoir Dogs's 6 minute hallway scene didn't make much sence first time.

Pulp Fiction was shot backwards. (in time)

In Kill Bill, his use of cheap Japanese style movie's cut/splert blood when cutting off limbs was brillient.

Watch it again.

I thought the scene with the girl on the hood was the best part.

Deathproof really suck, expect the 15 minutes of action at the end of the movie..

i was pretty dissapointed with that flick... chicks talking, talking and talking, it was fucking annoying. Very little action... It felt like a thirty minute tv show instead of a complete movie.
Anyone seen the 2nd one 'planet terror' yet? Id love to see that one... plus the extremely hot rose mcgowan got the leading role in that one

What he was trying to achieve was replicating the grindhouse movie experience.

When I was a kid,we had still a few of those around, not including the drive-in. But for some people the drive-in will be the closes you come.

Anyway, you'd go to a double feature, and the movies wouldn't be B movies, they would be C & D movies. There would be gory slasher flicks that would mix in a little T&A. Think back to some of Roger Corman's films, women in prison type flicks, slasher films like The Last House On The Left.

Great time for bad movies in the 60's and 70's.

Quentin likes to mess with genres. Which is what Kill Bill is all about. He mixed in that series the Spaghetti Western, Martial Arts, and Anime genres.

Go back and watch movies like They Call Me Trinity, My Name is Nobody, and you'll hear the same kind of score.

I enjoy Quentin's movies. I haven't seen these two yet, but have a feeling since I spent so much time at the Drive-in etc as a kid, I'll get the inside joke.

You have to realise here is what happened.

Tatentino made two movies, back to back, as a Grindhouse tribute.
As has already been said, these are generally B-grade horror/gore/etc movies from the 60s - 70s.

Unfortuntely for you americans [and some europeans too],the stupid and money grabbing distributers released the movies as two, instead of one.
The sum total: they released two b-grade movies, without any pretence of what the purpose was.

And the studio took a bath for doing that way. They lost a boat load of money. From what I here Tarentino took the brunt of the blame as it was his idea release it as such.

I bought the DVD because I really wanted to see it and assumed I would love it.

Kind of a stinker if you ask me. Too much dialogue with the girls. It wasn't interesting dialogue like in Reservoir Dogs, just annoying banter.

It did have some good parts, but overall I was disappointed.

To the haters... Its truly not your type of flic or you just dont quite understand what quentin was trying to do

Watch the special features...

Listen to what quentin has to say about making the movie, some people here have pegged it...

he wasnt trying to make the best damn car chase movie out there, he was standing up to what HE knows and grew up with... he was replicating ole relics from another era...

I liked the movie... im not goona write momma about it... but you cant say it was a shitty movie... you can say it wasnt your type of flic...

i never seen grindhouse? am I missing out?

Huh? Death Proof and Planet Terror were released as one in American theaters. Or are you talking about DVD?

The end was the most empowering part. I don't understand why everyone hates it. I guess that's just my X chromosome kicking in.

This was my most least anticipated QT flick, I watched Grindhouse, and I'll probably check out the extended cut of Death Proof, but IMO this was his worst flick by far, but still better than shit like Next or the new Resident Evil.... i'd give it a 6.5/10

Grindhouse is my favorite movie of the year...chopping it into two movies for the DVD feels more like doubledipping to me, but I don't care...I enjoyed both halves, although I enjoyed planet terror more and of course the fake trailers...

To really appreciate "Death Proof", watch movies like "Faster Pussycat Kill Kill", "Two Lane Blacktop", "Gone In Sixty Seconds" (original, not the remake), and "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry"
