Webmasters, do you know what "FREE E-MAIL" means?

If so, then why is it when you see this: No free e-mail addresses (yahoo, hotmail, etc.)
on a sign up page, why do 80% of you still use hotmail and yahoo as your e-mail?

Honestly, because I don't understand how difficult it is to use a real e-mail address when you are asked for one.

Is it a language barrier or do you just like to push and push to see how far someone will jump through hoops to get your traffic, if there is any at all to get?

For those of you who can read, thank you.

The issue DirtyWhiteBoy is that much of the webmasters get tuns of spam and their ISP or web provider charges for the "extra" usage... so people use service like Hotmail & Google since it is an exceptable method...

Anyone who has a problem with my gmail account can go fuck himself.

4 years from now, chances are I'll still have the same gmail account, but will have switched ISPs. Likewise, I might sell sites, so [email protected] isn't an option either.

Or you spend the $10 a year to register a domain you'd never sell just for the purposes of having a real business email... Just a thought.

Lol, anyone with a domain and hosting has a paid (non free) email address.

I blackhole ALL mail coming to my domains and only use my gmail acct. Got to ask yourself why some people with thousands of domains and a bunch of dedicated servers choose gmail...

Exactly.

Though, I let many gmail addys slide because they come from known guys or sites. If you are going to use a free e-mail anyway, at the VERY LEAST make sure your site is up and working.

Why I use a free e-mail is because i'm sick and tired of having to start over with e-mail every time I switch ISPs... I think I can trust Google to be sticking around for awhile. Can't say the same for my hosting (moved 4 times in 2 years), or my ISP (competition, better pricing, switched 3 times in last 2 years).

People can go fuck yourselves with their rules of "no free e-mail". I'm not paying more for the privilege of having a certain e-mail address for an extended amount of time. There's the other thing - if you force me to use a real e-mail address off my server, i'll just create a new throw away account, register, validate and delete it - I won't ever be reading it.

And some of you wonder why the industry has gone to shit. There is no regard for any laws or rules. Every man for himself and fuck everyone else. Nice.

If you have a valid site, you don't have to pay more to use the e-mail that comes with it. It takes 1 minute to get your POP info from a new hosting company should you change. I've done in plenty without a hitch.

I generally do not use my domain email because...

- Webhost email is never as reliable as the big email providers.

- If my site goes down, I'd like my email to still work.

- Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, Gmail, etc... are at very little risk of being hacked.

- Large email providers have the best spam filters. We all know how certain sponsors, TGP's, content providers, etc... like to sell your email to spammers.

word.

I've yet to see a better spam filter then that provided free with gmail. The no free email crap is bullshit.

Anyone can buy a domain so it does not create legitimacy in any way, shape, or form. As others also stated ISP's change, domains get bought and sold, sites get bought and sold, some want secure access no matter where they are at in the world and on whatever computer they are at.

Hell others rather keep the hosting expense of email down, others may enjoy the perks of say what gmail offers aside from mail; like logging your chats into your mail or responding to an email with chat and so forth.

Others mentioned the spam filter and well honestly there are a crap load of other reasons.

Now if you want to manually approve accounts and want to show some legitimacy. Then require that they give you a URL that has the who is as public info, that matches what is on the account. True all that can be faked as well but it is just as likely as good as the no free email route and it at least proves that they have a porn site up right?

Since I have gotten gmail I have only signed up to 1 sponsor so far who demanded a non free email account. That was after I emailed them and asked WTF? They let me through. Yet I will not do it again as it serves no good purpose unlike my FREE EMAIL does.
