Hey, yeah I had it. Didn't plan out as I wanted. Opponent changed, then the promoter lost his California Sanctioning, so we ended up fighting in the cage at his gym. I see too many just not able to defend and that ends too many fights that way.

get a guy tired and then smother him in a corner... I dunno...

and im not at all saying pussy or nothing, im just saying... more practice in this area would be good for all..

Who was it in the last UFC that got FUCKED UP but ended up taking the fight... green trunks is all i remember... THAT GUY had the skills to get out... he took solid blows and not once, even while going down to the ground, did he stop swinging back...

That guy gained a HUGE amount of respect from my end... his defense was just as on as his offense...

Since that fight was a smoker and wasn't sanctioned, I asked the promoter to rematch us when he gets the next promotion up and ready.

I've been working on alot of the weakness I showed during that fight.

Ive seen him in action plenty... and as I can see, his only vulnerability is the ground... he gives up his ankles and legs too freely....

Great video. Rampage is so susceptible to getting kneed in the face. Silva is an equally gifted brawler so Rampage needs to step up his game or his defense to stand a chance against a guy like that.

sounds like you lost due to illegal strikes (back of the head) than lack of JJ knowledge?? surely he wouldnt have been able to get away with that in a sanctioned fight

As far as I know, nobody in full contact sports has learned to take a hit on the button and eat it. When you're rocked, you're rocked. There is nothing to learn there.

The back of the head is a very vulenerable place to get hit.

Wanderlei Silva has a very solid ground game too, he uses it more for defence then offence that's it. Different tactics, but the skills are there.

And as far as ankle locks and knee bars, he defends them really well.

Wanderlei was sick as a dog this day, he wouldn't let go the fight because this was pride first promo on US soil and it would have gave them a really bad name. he didn't knock the same wand that knocked page

Yeah but learning to defend a thai clinch agaisn't a guy like shogun or wanderlei isn't easy. You can't get many guys with a strong grip like them to roll with... He's lost 3 times to it.

though he seems to have a good team arround him, we shall see.

Watch the DVD pride made about him, showing most of his fights and all the highlights. This guy has been the most exciting fighter overall to watch for a couple years in a row.
