What kind of camera should I get to shoot my own content?

What kind of video camera should I get?

Should you have a video camera AND a regular camera?
I'm guessing that still shots from a video wont be good quality.

And is there a quaility camera that makes it easy to go from cam to electronic format?

If you have the bucks, get yourself a Nikon D100

Or if you don't have that kind of budget, grab a Nikon Coolpix 5700

And if that's too much then a Nikon Coolpix 4500

Will probably do you just fine. Call me biased, but I think Nikon and Canon make the BEST digital Cameras on the market!

your old video cams are analog and require a convertor like a dazzle. the newer camcorders have a firewire output or usb for the cameras.

make sure your new purchases have some type of way to connect directly to firewire or usb and you will be very happy.
