Should I use a 301 Permanent or 302 Temporaray Redirect? - GoFuckYourself.com

I have several url mis-spellings of a domain I use that I want to redirect using my DirectAdmin server software. Does it make any difference that I should consider if I use 301 Permanent or 302 Temporary Redirect option?

i think i've read that 301 is the best way for the SE's not to block you...

If you're unlikely to ever do anything else besides redirect to the correct domain name then that would be hmm... permanent?

You ALWAYS use a 302 if you're not sure unless you know that it is actually permanent (as in your own site or page being permanently redirected).

If you may ever want to sell the domain name, use a 302.

what happens if you change your mind, can't you just change the hta?

where does it matter if a permanent gets changed back?

In the end there's probably little difference between using a temporary or permanent redirect, the internet is always half broken and I'm sure SE's will periodically reattempt links that have previously been marked 301. The question is how much (or whether they take) longer to recheck a permanent redirect. If you're unsure, use a 302.
