For outdoor use I'm almost betting that you would want something specifically for that purpose, otherwise I'm really wondering about the brightness and clarity. Don't know much about projectors though.

I have 2 InFocus IN26 projectors. My screens are only 8ft but they go up to 25ft. 1700 lumens, 2 AV inputs, VGA input, USB input, and more. Very nice units - you should be able to get them for around $600-$700 on ebay. These also come with a 3000 hour lamp as most others are only 2000. The replacment lamp is only around $250 also, (most others are $350+)

I glanced at it briefly but did not see the resolution. You may want to drop a little more $ on one to get the quality imho. The lumens wont be much of a factor outdoors at night as the pixel count. The combo is ok but more importantly you will want to get the best video quality. See a demo of the projector you want in the environment closest mathcing yours if possible.
