Got my XP Home cd, have xp pro installed, how to do a system restore?

i installed sp1 and my computer crapped out, cant even get to login screen before i am told a fatal error has occured adn ihave to restart.

luckily i did a system backup (resotre point thingy) before i upgraded, and i cansee all the files from that directory just sitting there when i installed xp home on my 2nd hard drive to fix the first (pro ed).

so, after i boot from cd, what do i do? i tried going to "repair" but it just brought up a dos console with limited commands..

i tried using all the options from the f8 menu but none work....

how can i fix my xp?

I'm a little confused, if i read you correctly you have xp home on one drive, and installed xp pro on a second drive, and would like to get your files to the second drive and put them on the new pro drive. If you can see the files on the old drive but can't access them, my guess is one drive you set on the fat32 system, and the other on the ntfs system. If this is the case, reinstall the new version making sure you use the same file system as the original hard drive.
If I have misunderstood your problem, and all you want to do is reinstall xp without losing your old files, hit reinstall rather than repair, it will prompt you if you want to save your old files during set up. Also, be sure you have your old copy of windows handy when you do this, or it will stop you cold. Actually any old version of windows will get you past this point if you don't have the original copy.

I believe you can restore it from the xp pro partition. Call tech support and ask.
