because you arent out there starting a war against it like you are torrents.

You must support it then. Either you are against stolen content or you are not.

Personally, i dont care about torrents or what audio you steal, i just get tired of seeing people start witch campaigns about "stolen content" when there are top banner spots using stolen content to get your attention.

There is no porn company here who gets written ok to use stolen audio from MOTION PICTURES.

I need not explain myself here. Stolen content has been used in banners on GFY for years now...

Once they used Schultz Snoopy charachter and many times it has been songs/audio and many times quotes from movies. You cannot do this and then try and pass yourself off as "against piracy."

Using someones property is illegal, whether it is a cartoon charachter or a sample from a movie.

Nothing to do with music. When you steal audio from a MOVIE and use it in your banner, it is illegal.

But I just had to speak on this when I see the torrent crusade in full swing, and meanwhile stolen content is reaching for my attention through VERY EXPENSIVE audio banners.

I guess im the only one who sees things for what they are anymore...

anyway... got plenty of work to do and not here looking for fights, just setting things straight.

go on your crusade if you must, just make sure you look around at what is around you before you get all high and mighty.

ive had content, designs, sites, you name it stolen from me. you just gotta move on to the next project.

Isn't there some guideline that you have to use "X" amount of time before it's infringing? Just curious, but I think I heard that in a DVD commentary regarding a small clip of sound they used. Guy said it was so short because otherwise they would have had to pay for it.

Look I was bringing this up years ago, before someone used Snoopy cartoons in banners, and way back when others were using stolen audio...

the fact is, it is still going on. Why was it not stopped?

Ummm, i dont consider myself the smartest man in the word, but its not too hard to recognize stol;en audio in banners.

And the banners have been inrotation with stolen content for years now, no one cared or cares.

Do you understand? I run a forum for webmasters, Ive been asked to do audio banners, and I refused. I refuse to put up advertising banners with stolen content in them.

Do you see me starting threads about being anti-piracy?

I see your point, but not that it's "laughable" This is a PORN webmasters forum. About the PORN business. And the "witchunt" is about taking ENTIRE movies from members areas and stealing them and distributing them for profit without consent.

If this were a Record Industry or mainstream Movie Industry forum then I would suspect that they would be concerned about that.

If someone used the entire "Escape From New York" movie as a download to profit using a banner (somehow) then yes, I believe eyebrows would be raised right here on GFY and we who are against content theft would talk about that too.

But when I and many others are having our content stolen, I don't think it's "laughable" that we didn't take umbrage to a banner saying "The Duke Of New York!"

Which proves my point, the only reason you guys care about "piracy" is when it comes to ripping YOUR content. So the "anti-piracy" cause is a front.

It has nothing to do with piracy. You are either against it or not.

not sure how to say it without putting GFY in a bad light, but there are indeed other forums where the owners have a more pro-active approach to certain industry problems than the owners of GFY who - as it seems - run this board more or less on auto-pilot

If the song is older than 25 years than in most cases the copywrite has expired. There are a few exceptions like Elvis and The Beatles (and a few others) only because the RIAA re-applied for 99 year copywrites on their music so that they can squeeze more money out of people.

I was digging around but I couldn't find the info about it. There definitely is something along those lines. Anyone over 30 would remember it from all the legal battles in the 80s over musicians sampling other musicians and sound clips.
