Best place online to buy eyeglasses?

I spent over $300 on my eyeglasses getting them through the doctor and my frames are extremely ugly. I never pursued buying new ones because I really don't wear them that much and didn't feel like spending $200 again on lenses, but a friend told me you can get frames and lenses online really cheap.

Any suggestions?

How exactly does the process work? Select frames you like, then fax in your prescription?

Don't they have to use that little thing that looks like a viewmaster to measure your eyes for glasses? I thought they had to do that even AFTER you got a prescription.

I go next week to get stronger reading glasses and since the only time I look at things at a distance and rarely drive at night, prescription sunglasses. Tried the unlined bifocals and felt like I was on acid.

I bought three pair from Optical4Less less than two years ago. All with decent wire frames, scratch resistant coat, and anti-UV coat for CRTs. It cost me about $90 for all three to the US. Took roughly three weeks to get them.
