Think before you speak, that's a huge life lesson. He was trying to "own" Oy and spoke out of place.

Keep in mind when MPA came out they were building an affiliate backend based on what program owners wanted. This feature was added due to many owners requesting it. Maybe you should go after everyone who used mpa2...

right... so since there are a lot of creeps out there, is it acceptable to sell cp?

great reasoning.

anyways... this thread isn't about mpa2 or mpa3 or whatever... i made my point in response to his comment.. and that's that.

That's a very shit attempt to make a comparison.

If you went to a fair amount of programmers within this industry and wanted them to code something dirty they would. Money is money when it comes to that.

If you went to any content providers and wanted them to shoot CP they would not... Big difference.

oh puh-leeze ....... it was a horrible thing for MPA to do and they should thank their lucky stars that this industry has such short memories. at the time this was going on there were still lots of naive affiliates who really didn't believe in shaving - it took seeing it to finally hit home.

there would be no NATS probably if that scandal hadn't happened.

I remember a party at Albrights where he showed me and a few other of his guests that feature and just about everyone was horrified.

Talking to morons on planes gives you life experience? Or in baddogs case i guess banging chicks and driving a motorcycle around the US gives you life experience. Hmm. If anything i think baddogs generation is to blame as they created the society that the sonofsam's were born into. If you want to go that route...

I'm sorry, but you cannot blame every little pissing thing on the fucking Internet and TV. As you may have guessed, it pisses me off how people constantly do this, as if there was no crime, problems in society, or even evil before TV and the Internet came along; obviously before the days of dial-up and black and white TV people ran around footloose and fancy free, leaving car doors open with ignition keys in, houses with big "come on inside for free shit" signs everywhere, let their sons and daughters roam free and play with the local paedophile community, didn't actually have content for the nightly news, and so heard of how local bunnies in the park had performed some form of miracle which meant that another bunny came out of an undiscovered hole near the anus... and so forth.

The simple reason people don't talk to each other anymore is fear. That and common courtesy - some people just plain don't want to talk to strangers, and why should they have to? I'm sure you and her both find it insolent and unpolite to not talk to strangers, but you two might want to consider their feelings (I know, I know: whippersnappers aren't allowed to have these until they're around fifty or so...). How would you like it if you were on a date and some stranger just hobbled on up and asked you why the economy was so shit? Or better yet, there you are pumping away and there's a knock at the door... It's a stranger wanting to discuss family values with you and the lady you've brought back with you.

To be honest, I'm not sure why I'm posting this, as you probably don't give two shits because I'm a young kid who hasn't see the delights of the world.

Anyway, I'm off to go and give my car keys to a stranger and see what happens...

I had an epiphany the other night.

I was visiting one of my girlfriends and somehow we got on the topic of today's youth (18-25). As she works with job placement, she has gained a lot of insight to the supposed right of entitlement that kids these days think they have.

She mentioned how when she was in college (she's 33) it was not unusual for students to take some time off, and go backpack through Europe, with the opportunity to actually interact with others. This could take place on the flight over, riding the rails, etc, etc. Today, people plug in their iPods and don't even talk to the person sitting next to them.

She blames a lot of this on TV and the Internet, in that parents use these tools as babysitters. Instead of going out to play with the neighbors, kids are playing with their XBox, or in some Yahoo chatroom. This has resulted in a generation of people that have very little in the way of life experience, and social interaction beyond the online forum.

Many philosophers think we're now shifting to post-modernism and one of it's main social characteristics is that it distracts you from other people and focuses on yourself.

Cities are now designed to keep the flow going. As long as things flow, nothing else matters. This obviously leads to the reduction of public spaces where citizens could communicate with each other. In other words, places where you could actually stop and talk are now frowned upon. Think about malls and how they're designed to keep the people going, thing about the Internet, the place where the flow of information is king (regardless of the source), think about how McDonald's uses bright white lighting to discourage people from sitting around to talk in a warm environment. One author jokes about traffic jams and how the postmodern society hates being stuck in traffic with fellow citizens.

One of these guys goes as far as saying that practically everything in cities is designed to center the attention on yourself, rather than on the community. He claims that advertising, for example, distracts you from reality because while you're looking at it, you disconnect from absolutely everything else and center your thought in the fantasy land portrayed by the ad.

It's really crazy actually.

Basically, post-modernism characteristics are:
  • Nothing is certain
  • Science flakes because of this
  • Since nothing is certain, there is no utopia
  • De-centralization of cities (as in multiple centers, not as in lack of center)
  • Multiple meanings to everything, rampant polysemy (Saussure's linguistic sign is fucked up here haha)
  • Eclectic esthetics
  • Self-centered individual
  • Live for today, tomorrow is uncertain (think savings, long-term projects, etc.)
  • Disbelief in traditional institutions (politics, church, schools, etc.)

Well, I extended myself a bit more than I wanted here... Sorry. :sleep

As usual, just another human looking for explanations... The whole post-modernism theory is quite interesting and it is almost the perfect excuse for a "formal anarchy".

It also explains a lot about today's youth and why they behave like they do.

well I just read a study that this is a natural adjustment.

It is a huge stress factor to be forced to interact with people you don't have a relation with and/or people in which company you do not feel pleasant. (creepy people in the sub and so on).

The Human as well as the monkey is not meant to be in a group of more than 70 people TOP.
We get around 20k sense impressions a second and are only able to store around 100-200 of these impressions.

Due to some amazing filters we normally store the right information but if we are constantly tired because we have to store unwanted info (uncalled for conversations and such) we get very tired due to our brain working overtime.

Ipod's and the likes is just a natural way of a adjusting to a new environment and survive. This way you don't have to use all that energy of filtering what the brain sees as important info because you simply do not hear it.

I agree that a nice conversation in a bus or train or something can have a very positive effect but we have had way too many negative experiences so it's perfectly natural to try to avoid contact in a polite way.

It's a natural way to adjust and to prevent mental breakdown of stress according to the danish article.
Stress is coursed by many things of course but this is a bigger part than anticipated.

looking at a man in the city and a man on the country with the same job.
The man in the city will be much more stressed out because of getting too much data to filter.

From a guy with your "life experience" I think your point of view is very narrow minded and black and white.
Most Xbox games you play together and the online life is a part of the new world.
In severe cases I have no doubt that you can get socially handicapped if you never spend time with other people but in general no.

SonOfSam do lack some wisdom and self acknowledge but so do you it seems and you are 3 times his age.
