The question is, who said Saddam has all these massive destruction weapons besides Bush? That's the point of most countries, not just Canada; unless there are solid proofs they won't support an attack against Irak. I know you think US don't need anybody's support, and it's probably true on the military side of things, but on the diplomatic aspect, it would be a very bad move. Bush isn't trying to convince other countries just for fun..

And if Saddam really has all these weapons as Bush claims, what kind of stupid strategy is it to announce 2 months before US will attack him and reverse him? I mean if I was Saddam, knew I had nothing to lose, and had all these massive destruction weapons, I'd use them asap ; probably against my future opponent.

And just because South Park depicts Saddam as a bad guy, it doesn't mean he is......

Its not only other countries that don't agree with an attack on Iraq. Many Americans don't buy into what Bush/Cheney are saying about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction.

Even a former UN arms inspector who worked in Iraq for 7 years doesn't agree with an attack

http://www.reuters.com/news_article....toryID=1423734

and that guy is American too!

Canadians are too busy coming to California to steal all of our management jobs..

Canadians are welcome, but not needed. When the USA is in charge of one of the biggest oil fields in the World, it will be in a position to manipulate mid east oil prices, and for those that did not join the fray...

I can't stay away. Firstly, we both rely on each other, don't be ignorant.

Second, Canada would be just fine without US imports, maybe we'd just be less fat and support our own companies (who are dying) because of the American infiltration of their fast food chains and WALMART.

Thirdly, of course Canada's "military" support isn't needed. That's not the issue here. When America says that "canada doesn't matter so why should we listen to them?" that's the same sentiment that makes the entire rest of the world HATE you. We live on this planet too? Why does a large portion of America feel they have no part in creating these feelings? The act first, ask questions later mentality doesn't work in a healthy democracy (isn't that what America is "fighting for" ?

If you don't need us, and we just cost you money, I say you just invade and get it over with. I mean why not?

Funny thing is, in and amongst this thread is a semblance of a good discussion. We are both (Americans & Canadians) on the side of freedom and what is right, and what is wrong. Our similarities are as numerous as our differences people, weather you want to believe it or not, it's true.

Having said that, I'll state right here right now that I for one want to know without a doubt what Saddam is up to. His country lost the gulf war, was sentenced to certain sanctions by the U.N., and he hasn't really abided by those sanctions now has he? Turning a blind eye to him is not the wisest move the world can do at this juncture, and those that think we should just "leave him alone" are, well, nuts. Naive nuts that cringe if anyone or anything pulls their head out of the sand.

Hey, who knows, maybe Bush won't go through with it. But if he does, I'll support the action, because I don't like the fact that there is a mad fucker in the middle east that might possibly have the will and the power to start some more major shit in the world.

And to you debate captains that want to make this into an issue about the worth of Canada, just ask your president in a time of major world crisis decisions how much he values the opinions and support of long-time allies like Canada. Ask him.

exactly, when people die, simply give them their respect... I do not advocate the war, but when my friends fight and die, and when friends of canadians fight and die, lets not play that card... its not a matter of whose the better country, but who has DIED for fighting for what they believed in.

Its a common misconsception, that us americans don't "give a shit" but the following war, which will occur, will cost us lives. So, regardless of our president pay some godamn respect.

I think the key term is trading "partners". Both countries are highly dependent on each other.

I am wondering how it will be when CHINA takes over the number 1 spot of the US when it comes to being the largest economy. Don't think the rednecks will appreciate it ;-)

Bush is obviously waiting for China to invade Taiwan so they have an excuse to cripple the Chinese economy.

Why would we want to support a attack when the first one the U.S. did they fucked up? This could of been dealt with years ago and who knows what other problems it could of avoided.

You won't be alive to see that happen. China is a trading partner of the US and if I am not mistaken has MFN status, so it is the US that is helping to build China's economy.

The US chose to abide by UN resolutions the first time around, and for several important reasons, we chose to leave Sadam in power. The US has now decided to remove him from power. The US makes its decisions, on its own time line. Thank you very much.

Looks to me like you think the US is helping everyone financially.
You are wrong.

China could do without its exports to the US by increasing trade with other Asian nations.

I think that the US does what is in the best interests of the US, and in the instance of trading with China it benefits them as well. China is the one that asked for MFN status.
