Premiere Pro .AVI VIDEO EDITING problem ... CODECS???

I have tried multiple codecs including the XviD codec used. I am trying to edit the .avi file but when it is on the timeline, it will not display video in the preview window but the sound plays. It will however play in the left monitor.

Any ideas?

Hmm the video is playing in the left monitor, but not showing up on the timeline? You will have to explain a bit better.

from what you describe, it seems like you have the proper audio codec, but not the video codec. You can use this free tool
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/
to see what codecs were used to encode the video, then make sure
you have them installed on your computer.

I don't think you can edit Xvid encoded AVIs in Premiere Pro, nor any of the other compressed AVI codecs other than full sized DV AVI and expect it to work properly.
