It's the new Ferrari F60 - and if history is any judge.. $650K is low. A US F50 is worth about $1MM.. if you can find one for sale.

so, back in the day when I had my first job at sexhound ... and I was supposed to get "stock options" in the company ... I went down to the ferrari shop just to check things out, cuz I was young and stupid and had the wool over my eyes. However, I did pick up a few cool details about the ferrari market.


Basically here's the way it works :

You can get a brand new ferrari 360 Modena for about 130,000 and with options about 150,000 ... HOWEVER there's a huge waiting list. many people purhase two cars at the same time ... because the second you walk out the door with the keys the value almost doubles. So, you buy two, turn around and sell one to someone who wants it RIGHT NOW for about 250,000 and almost cover the cost of both cars. :-)

I imagine with the enzo, the base cost is 650,000 .. but if you want one today you'll be paying $1 to $2MM for it :-)

I'd like to start buying ferraris and reselling them, but need a half million dollar line of credit... can anyone hook me up with a good bank that will take a guy with a $40,000 line of credit and give them half a mil for a car?

Tadow is almost right... I bought my 360 Spider 'secondhand' so I didn't have to wait 20 months. Paid about 15K over the new price. You'd have to order at least 20 to get one free though...

I'm off to Germany for a Ferrari meeting at the Nurnburgring tomorrow. Afterwards dinner with Michael Schumacher... ok, and about 1499 other people I don't know ;-)

From what I heard, it won't be an easy thing to buy an Enzo. It's a strictly limited series (something over 300 cars), and Ferrari will expect the buyer to already own a F40 or F50.

I fully understand the attitude. The Enzo is nothing for a silly idiot who won his millions in a fucking lottery.

The Enzo is pretty remarkable in every aspect. It has a top speed of about 217 Mp/h, superb aerodynamics and downforce, with most of its technology being pulled from F1 racing.

It's named for the founder of Ferrari, and designed around the F1 platform, since Enzo had such a passion for it. Even if some people are thrown off by it's looks, every account so far of actually driving the car says that it's rather unbelievable.

you know, the 360 was one of the first ferraris with a fully finished interior .. the f40 and f50 both have really lame appointments .. manual windows, uncovered carbon fiber door panels, manual locks ... AM/FM RADIO, and dials for the fuckin heater and A/C ..

I was a bit disappointed .. I mean, I'm not saying if someone gave me one I'd throw it back .. but just wierd. ya know?

All that fancy stuff slows the car down though, the F series is built around performance not comfort. I'm sure if you drove any of the F series for an hour or two your ass would bruised and your legs would have pins and needles.

What was there was the Enzo... Nice car indeed. Sat in it, felt pretty comfortable... There's indeed a limit of about 300-400 of this car. I guess you won't see much around on the road.

1 - You can't get a brand new 360 for $130k. Depending on if you want the F1 trasmisision ($10k option), it's gonna run you about $165-180k out the door, depending on what options you want.
Sales, luxury, & gas guzzler tax alone will run you $10k+, depending on what state you live in.

2 - I GUARANTEE you that no authorized Ferrari dealership in the USA/Canada will sell you 2 brand new 360s at once. With waiting lists up to 5 years long and these cars being cash cows, they know everybody and their mothers would love to buy more than one.

Smart thing to do, but not in the USA. Used 360 Spiders are going for $80-100k over sticker, depending on the mileage. Most USA dealerships are not even taking names for the 360 Spider waiting lists anymore, as they will stop producing the car by the time the bottom entries get a car. This is driving the price of used ones skyhigh.
