It is not a good idea to drop that much weight in that short amount of time, that is just my honest opinion. do what is best for you though obviously.

i have lost 45 pounds in a year now, went for 255-60 to around 210-215 now.

it is amazing how much being back in shape changes your life.

looks confidence energy, everything goes up, anyone feeling depressed i suggest working out it changes more than you could ever think possible.

May I ask what you did to loose 16 lbs and what kind of scale do you use...?

I have never seen a human scale that was more then 120 Kilos or 250 lbs.

Also you really should do something about your weight. I'm sorry to talk to you like this, but come on dude. Every Doctor must tell you your going to die if you don't do something no ?

A quick google search shows that over 10% of Americans are over 300lbs :warning

I am going out on a limb, and will guess that most 250lb+ ppl get their weight from the doctor's scale?

Huggles 09-16-2007 10:08 AM

I've got a flat stomach with some definition right now, probably in a few months I will have a 4 pack. 227 and 6'3...

C'mon webmasters, what kind of life is it if you have money but you're fat?

You can buy scales for home that go up to 400 pounds. Mine goes to 300 and it just a standard scale. I don't need the 300 mark....yet.....:helpme

Yes, in fact Googling found the a Healthometer 402 which goes to 450 pounds.

Having a Doctor quality scale in a home isn't out of the ordinary. My mother has had one since I can remember and she's never weighed an ounce over 105.

beemk 09-16-2007 10:41 AM

that reminds me of the show rob and big, they couldnt find a scale that could weigh big black so he took him to a place and weighed him on a truck scale.

TheDatingNetworkCameron 09-16-2007 11:18 AM

In the last 12 months I've lost 120 pounds myself. 16 lbs in 6 weeks is a really good start at your size. As you keep losing weight you'll find it so much easier on your joints to be active and then you will probably lose at an even faster pace.

I eat healthy 4-5 days of the week and eat ANYTHING I want 2-3 days a week.

I had a fucking FEAST of a meal for lunch and dinner last night, and then thai food with the lovely young lady that patched up my dog bite last month when I had to goto the hospital...

Young 09-16-2007 11:42 AM

The first 16lbs was most likely water weight. If you were training harder and eating right at your size that 16lbs could have been 30-50lbs or more....in one week. Boxers will often drop 10lbs over night by dropping the water weight.

You're most likely retaining alot of water.

Don't listen to the haters.

100lbs in 3 months...whats that ? Less then 8lbs a week?

Fap 09-16-2007 11:53 AM

best of luck man

Considering the amount of water weight someone can lose their first week on a cardio routine.....no I am not insane. People always see dramatic weight losses their first week. It's a gift and a curse....because it gets you motivated...but when weeks 2 and 3 roll around and the losses are minimal it can discourage you.

And just to add someone on NBC The Biggest Loser lost 30lbs in 1 week in the season premiere.

So am I insane? No. But am I in shape (6'1 215lbs low bf) and know what the fuck I'm talking about?

I like to think so.

tony286 09-16-2007 12:21 PM

For Ram my scale goes up to 500 lbs, my blood pressure is normal and my cholesterol is 126.The only advantage of being a guy with big hips and thighs is Im not a heart waiting to happen like my apple shaped brothers. My main motivation is Im healthy now don't want to wait til one day the tide turns.

Hydroxy Cut three times a day, 1/2 gallon of water, and phentermine, along with 30 minutes of walking a day.

I did 105lbs

Good luck

Exercising's where it's at. I never really drank soda at all, but I do drink beer - and eat well, and for the last few years, I've gone from living a pretty active (in a physical sense) career to sitting on my ass all day, and (a guy with a bigger frame to start) it pushed me up to about 250...

Sick of it (I'm noticing man-boobs), I decided to do something about it... cardio 2 times a day (20 minutes a pop... it's apparently better for you than doing an hour straight) for 4 days a week. Not changing my diet at all, really - I feel if you're hungry for something, you should eat it.

At any rate, I've averaged 1.2 lbs. loss a week for the last 8, and I hope to keep this up for another year or so, and get back to my idea form... without stretch marks, etc.

I also feel like I'm "in shape" again... which is a good thing... as walking up the stairs to my apartment was starting to get me winded.

So, yeah... it might be slower than a drastic diet, but it's steady and healthy. Like was mentioned earlier, it's really about sticking with it.

bns666 10-26-2007 04:24 PM

this is the stuff i can recommend from my personal experience:

http://www.ultimatefatburner.com/lab...ge-review.html

used it while cycling and it does make a difference than without it.

Nope didnt make it failed only lost 20 pounds so far. Decided to go for 2 lbs a week and walking 5 x a week . I was thinking whats my rush didnt gain it over night. Also I want to keep it off, I have done the white knuckle before lose a bunch of weight and then it all comes back on. Im making lifestyle changes instead of short term diet and its not fun but I want to be healthy.

Sly 10-26-2007 10:14 PM

Dude, 20 lbs is an admirable amount already. If you just keep up the good work, you'll certainly reach your goal eventually - and be able to stay at the weight you want :thumbsup

Now the fact that you weigh 442 it will be easier to drop a 100lbs.. a more realistic goal is 60-75 lbs - if you lose too much too fast many things can go wrong.

:2 cents:

I agree, you could fuck your self up and shock your body badly, then you will have it all comeback plus some, take your time and do it right, treat it like one of your project sites, you know it's not going to take off in a month so you take the time to do it right, you only get one body it's worth the extra time!

RawAlex 10-27-2007 12:05 AM

Tony, in theory you should be able to remove 1 pound every 2 days or so, especially if you are particularly heavier (and since you aimed to lose 100 pounds, I am assuming you are in the 280+ range).

give or take, 3000 - 3500 calories is a pretty good representation of a pound of body weight. If your weight loss is 2 pounds a week, you can typically move that up to three by eliminating about 500 extra calories a day, or doing 500 calories more exercise / work, or some combination of both.

if you can do two, you can almost certainly do three. It is always worth it after a few weeks to go back and look at what you are eating and what you are doing, and making adjustments to decrease the calories a little bit more and increase the activity a little bit more as well.

Remember also, as you get lighter, your body needs less overall calories to function. Most heavier people forget this and plateau after a while because they continue to take in food on the basis of making their larger body operate. As you get smaller, your body needs less energy to operate, and will start to convert excess back into fat. So you have to be careful and keep a sharp eye on intake and activity to make sure you are adjusting as their weight comes off.

You have taken the first big steps in a long but hopefully rewarding journey. Keep it up! :)

JuiceMonkey 10-27-2007 01:32 AM

you probably spent more than 3 months putting it on ;) why in such a rush to take it off? Do it the healthy way.. it's going to be much much better long term...

good luck though and happy anniv :)

20 pounds a month is a huge accomplishment, just keep it up, it is better if it takes you 5 - 6 months to do it anyway.

Do you eat a lot ? or just no exercise or both ? Do you see a big drop off if you eat less or do you need to exercise to really get the pounds off. I know it is different for different people.

Madame0120 10-27-2007 07:35 AM

A goal of 100 lb loss in 30 days sounds not just dangerous, but the best way to fail, down the road. Weigh loss of those proportions really should be overseen by a Doctor.

:Oh crap

After 3 years of pretending I wasn't a diabetic, my Doctor is being very honest with me, and we've set some goals Food is not as difficult for me to control, I have a small appetite. It is my lack of get up and go and getting my ass out and walking - that will be the most difficult. I may buy a treadmill today.

1500-1700 cal per day over 5 meals
170 grams of carbs
1 year of full bloodwork every 90 days

3 month Goals
daily sticks to check my NPO glucose levels
walk 20 mins 5X a week
weight loss 10 lbs
Lower hemoglobin AIC to 8%

Oy! It sucks getting old kids .. pls take care of yourselves, while you are still young.

No more ice cream(I was on a pint a day kick for awhile),no more fried foods, smaller portions,no soda of any kind (drank diet soda) now I try to drink at least a gallon of water a day.More fiber, more veggies, more fruit.Make a real effort to move more, parking farther away, get up to go get something.
I once read one of Covert Bailey's,most know him from the health rider commercials. He talks about a study they did having fat people and fit people doing the same tasks. They found fat people were experts of economy of movement. So I wanted to change that.Once I lose at least 75 lbs then I will go from walking to back to the gym.
Im trying very hard to express my feelings more,I tend to swallow them and that leads to overeating for release. Im also taking supplements to boost my serotonin levels, so my cravings have gone down dramatically. Im going to be taking meditation classes to keep centered. I get crazy over stupid shit and I want to change that.
My main motivation is I'm tired of being tired all the time and just dont feel comfortable with myself anymore physically. So its going to be a slow change,I figure it will take about 2.5 yrs. Would rather do that and learn about myself, then lose it quickly and in three yrs Im back where I started.
