Canucks - beware the "DO NOT CALL" listing

After enduring dozens of harrassing sales calls from Bell trying to coax us back to their shitty phone service, I finally contacted CMA (Canadian Marketing Association) to have us placed on the national 'DO NOT CALL' listing.

Since then, the calls have INCREASED - not halted. And not just from Bell, but a whole littany of companies spamming their services and shit.

We're at the point now of turning it over to our company attorney to see what can be done.

That's because when you sign up for those lists they basically spam your info to the entire world and then say you have X months to remove this person from your call list.

Not at all. The lists are compiled by the CMA from third-party sources (mostly retailers) - names are added without the individual's knowledge or permission after a purchase, transaction or service is rendered.

We did not "sign up" for any list. Our names were passed (sold) by companies such as Bell (among others). The Canadian Marketing Association is like the overseer of mass marketing.

I have my own way of dealing with these assholes.

I have an extension setup on my pbx that I transfer them to. It plays the audio of this: https://youtube.com/watch?v=Wb3KCaJ9qNw

It also records their reactions for my amusement

It seems to reduce the amount of calls I get.
