Anyone running a PPC campaign for Google lately?

Made a campaign for a review site.. Google says some shit about not being in compliance with the editorial guidelines bec of teen content. so now they won't run any of my ads.

I tried searching Google, it has TONS of sponsored links of review sites bombarded with tittieless teenagers.. Great..

Anyone else having trouble with this?

or

err.. help?

We had the same issue. They're the morality police now. And it's not just terms like teens and young girls, but the sites you promote. So apparently, you're not allowed to promote cheerleader porn, teen porn or twinks. Hell, even the phrase "barely legal" is banned. What shits me is that this policy seems to be applied on a case by case basis. I guess the more you spend, the more leeway google give you. But it's a catch 22 situation. They won't let us spend the money to show them the extent of our budget! And I'm sure you guys are in the same boat.

Due to shitty advice from one of their support staff, I spent days removing ambiguous terms like teens and twinks from our website only to then be told after weeks of trying to figure out why our ads were still being disapproved that merely promoting a website with "teen porn concepts" was a violation.

So realistically, if they want, they can disapprove an advert for a site that isn't a teen site in nature just 'cause there's a girl who they happen to mention is 18 or 19.

Shits me to tears.

I had a similar problem, but then i resubmitted the exact same site and got approved; I think they have a few new moderators who are imposing their own views which sites they accept. I'd never experienced this sort of problem with them in the past.

If you've got an old campaign running it might be fine for months and then they 'review' it again and it can get banned. So you could be seeing ads which link to 'teen porn concepts' just because google haven't got around to banning them. Then again it might well be related to how much money you are willing to spend with them...

I gave up on Google about 3 months ago, lost about $7k a month in revenue, but fuck them, was too much of a pain in the fucking ass.

And don't argue with them if you want to keep using them, they won't even look at my campaigns if you give them shit.

Also, if you have campaigns still running DO NOT CHANGE THEM, not even a word or a letter, cuz it will send it to them for review, and you'll get shut down. Let them find them on their own.

PPC sucks these days, the PPC traffic is too polluted by domain monetization traffic.

With the kind of site you guys have I doubt google would want to list you even if you dumped the teen category, the modifications you would have to make would be extensive.

Obviously what site you use depends on what you are promoting, but for keywords where review sites work the competition is VERY high, I doubt you would consider it worth the effort.

I happen to know how these things work. (I won't say how I know, but I do).

Aidantrent is right. There's a small team who deal with adult listings. When you resubmit, it's likely a different person on the team will be assigned to review your site. There are guidelines they use to make decisions, but different people on the team will sometimes view things differently.

If you're a big earner for them they won't scrutinize your site as much unless things are brought to their attention. I doubt anyone in this forum would be considered a big earner in this context. (Sorry guys) ;)

Aico is correct. Any time you change anything about your campaign (keywords, ad copy, etc) it's reviewed again, so it runs the risk of being banned if you have material that is on the edge of "acceptability". Changing bids won't lead to a review though.

They're not the moral police, but they are the "let's-try-to-be-extra-sure-we-don't-break-the-law" police. Changes in the law regarding what's acceptable on sites lead to immediate changes in what search engines will allow.

The words "young" and "teen" in connection with adult sites are a VERY touchy issue. Also, pics where the models "appear" to be under the legal age would be very closely scrutinized. (note: LittleLupe.com was recently removed from google's index because they regard it as child ****. Even though Lupe is 21 or 22.)

Rachel, I have a feeling they're giving you only one reason for rejecting your site/campaign when in actual fact, there are many.

I didn't give it up, they stopped it. You can't send traffic to a site that uses the word Girl anywhere on it if it's adult oriented. It was 7k a month from 1 site.
