Just another PW site. Just make sure you have the right tools in place and they can't cause much damage.

How is it the sponsors fault? When you sign up for a program you can promote right away. I imagine they probably have thousands of affiliates... they can't check every single website manually that a click comes from...

Create a script to check for where the surfers are coming from. If they come from *password* or *passes* or *torrent*, etc... flag the account... Then a human just need to check 10 accounts per day and can the offenders. Whitelist the ok ones...

Would take a programmer about 10 minutes and an employee about 1 hour a week.

like this you mean

PHP Code:
<?

// Redirect "password" traffic

$refer_full_path = "$HTTP_REFERER"."$PATH_INFO";

if(( preg_match("/pass/i", $refer_full_path)) ||
( preg_match("/passes/i", $refer_full_path)) ||
( preg_match("/password/i", $refer_full_path)) ||
( preg_match("/passwords/i", $refer_full_path))) {_

header("Location: $refer_full_path");
exit;_

?>
PHP Code:
<?
$words=array("pass","passes","password","passwords");
for($i=0;$i<count($words);$i++){
if(eregi($words[$i],$HTTP_REFERER)){
header("Location: http://www.adultfriendfinder.com");

?>

Too many would wise up to that and start sending the traffic to a, "Click here to continue" type of page on their own domain..

If they're making money from those sites, they'll figure out a way to keep doing it..

you really think program owners check every since link that sends them traffic? Some people are so fucking stupid. You should be contacting them and telling them so they will cancel their account.

setup a fake memberarea with only minimal access to content and leak the password to the site. Did you know some mayor sponsors actually provide access themselfs?

PW sites have always been around and I don't think they are a real treat at all if you have the proper protection for it.

Password sites have been accepted since the beginning the difference today is that torrent sites may be replacing some of the binary newsgroups.

I often see folks asking sponsors to take responsibility and not support these sites but webmasters should also be asked not to support these sites as well. It has always been a practice for some webmasters to post their own passwords on password sites as well as dump watermarked content in newsgroups to build traffic. When I talk to some of these webmasters their response is that sales jump by as much as 20% by posting a password and monitoring it.

I was on a content shoot last month and one of the webmasters asked us to take time out to shoot some material for TGPs and torrent sites. Exclusive material was shot for posting on torrent sites and newsgroups.

Again, my point is that some webmasters are contributing to or taking advantage of the traffic generated by password and torrent sites.

pennywize or similar ip checking script, when more than two people are on page in one moment, redirect them to your free tour. once in period send some fake logins all around so people will be sending to the tour and you can have nice advertisement from the password sites ;)

I applaud programs that still use basic authentication as it shows how ahead the online adult industry really is. I mean, seriously, session based authentication and proper content protection is so old school, who the fuck would want to use that?

Do you really think that every sponsor in existence has the time and the resources to check EVERY site sending them traffic? The only time I could see them checking on a site is if someone reports it to them. I'm sure they have better things to do then hire a team of people to scour the web for their shit. I know I'd rather have them paying me to send them sales.

You honestly think they dont know where there traffic is coming from?

Lets just say your right. Then how about after they are told and do nothing about it? They will stand by your first sentence, as a defense to make themselves look good and save face.

Sadly, it always was necessary to have protection in place and have it monitored daily to block the usual alleged "members" who seem to live in Canada, Italy, US, UK, Poland and Outer Mongolia - all at the same time

It's a long time since I actually looked at a members area (our own are automatically updated daily), but had a scan thru some on that pass sharing list.....

It is generally *stunning* to see how little content is being offered - and the poor presentation of that content. Is this the pathetic level the "adult entertainment" industry has reached??? It's total crap!!

If the paysite operators on that list want me as a member, the deal is this - send me $250 for every hour I'd have to tolerate browsing their members areas. These fees can go towards shrink costs for recovery of depression after browsing "adult entertainment" member areas.

Suppose this is no more than a reflection of the total amateurs and ex-McDonald's employees who could afford a computer and who enter this business thinking they are "webmasters" - pathetic!!!

Another Solution

You shouldn't have to lose any sleep if your passwords
are properly protected. Password trading forums have
multiple lives and tend to re-open under different names.
The main objective is to make sure all the passes posted
there are dead and that your valid members are not
blocked out of your site along with the leechers.

I represent the password protection system Phantom Frog
that is setting a new standard for website security. Our
product uses High-Resolution Geo-IP tracking technology
which will not even allow 2 friends to share the same
password let alone a whole trading forum with hundreds of
leechers! Frog tracks all visits to your site down
to not just the country level, but the city level.
Its doesn't matter whether the hackers are coming from
Russia, Poland, New York, or LA.Geo-IP Tracking Abuse
Detection is only available through Phantom Frog!

The second way we make life simple for webmasters is through
Automated Member Support. So, if this abuse/sharing happens
while you're sleeping or away, your legitimate paying member
can have a fresh new password re-issued to them via email.
As a result, the paying member is not blocked out of your
website and isn't looking to cancel their membership.

Our product is integrated with CCBill, NetBilling, Paycom,
NATS, MPA3, Verotel, 2000Charge, SegPay, Jettis, and 365Billing.
We have excellent webmaster testimonials listed on our site.

We have been in business for over 4 years and have very
satisfied webmasters who have been with us that entire
time and counting.

Phantom Frog has a simple FREE Trial Version which installs
in 5 minutes or we can handle the complete demo installation
for you from our end. Please feel free to contact me with any
questions or feedback.

Most of customers were motivated to purchase our password
protection only 3 days after installing the demo!

Visit this link to try our FREE demo: http://www.PhantomFrog.com/g

Thanks

George

Oh god...

1) REGISTER GLOBALS?!?!?! You insane?
2) Performance wise eregi or preg_match are extremely bad for this kind of stuff, use strpos for it, also checking for "pass" will match "passes" and "password" and "passwords" so why even check for "passes", "password", "passwords" after that?! No point.
3) In your 2nd example, add an exit after the header(); so it stops searching on a match...

I would say that the sponsors have a responsibility to cut off these affiliates when you notify
them of the problem. Even if they checked each affiliate's site before activating them the
bad guys would just put the banner on a legit looking site for one day, then switch it after
the site is approved. I don't see any way that could work.

Anyway Strongbox will take care fo the password traders for you.

Checking the referer can be a good idea in some circumstances, but you have to be
careful with that. There are some pitfulls and certain sites that you need to specifcally
allow. Also it only works if either you put it on every page, or rely on the fact that the
password sites won't figure out they can link to some page other than your main page.
Unless of course you're using Strongbox, in which case an intelligent referrer check
is one check done during the log in process.

If you see your site listed here, and it bothers you,
send us a message (wth the pass request button on the bottom), and we will remove it!
