Porn is a "crime" of opportunity. You need a number of factors to come together to enjoy porn and whack off...that includes time, location, and whether or not you are alone or not.
However you can smoke just about anywhere, drink in a lot of places, and if you're a gambler that's pretty much available anywhere now days.
During the summer time things occur that affect your ability to just sit at home and whack all day long.
It's warm out for one, so you're out enjoying the summer rather than sitting in front of the computer avoiding the winter cold.
Kids are home all day long. College kids who make up a good part of the customer base are at home too, and maybe not spending as much on porn.
Now look at smoking...it's summer time you're at the beach...you can smoke there...you can smoke in a park...you can smoke while out on your boat fishing...you can smoke at the amusement park you're at...etc...etc...etc.
You can replace a lot of that with drinking too. At the beach? Crack open a beer. Fishing? Same thing. At the park? Once again pass me a beer.
Now let's see some guy who's addicted to porn enjoy these same summer activities in the same manner as the smokers, and drinkers.
Now let's look at gambling. 20+ years ago, there were very few places you could gamble at legally. Everyone went to either Vegas or AC, now days, no matter where you live you are just a drive away from gambling.
If they don't have table games, then you usually are still just minutes away from gambling. Head down to your local liquor store, pick up some beer, cigarettes and a lottery ticket.
Huge difference between all that and online porn.

The small TGP's, movie posts, free sites do not update their sites as frequently as they would in the winter because they are trying to have "summer fun". Of course this means that the webmaster can't get listed at a variety of sources like they normally would. This changes their SEO rank too. Everything makes a difference with everything else in this business. Your listings on TGP's happen to change your position on the search engine pages. I am feeling a thirty percent slowdown.Comment

So people are out 24/7 during the summer, they never come inside? Sure people might go lay by the pool in the afternoon instead of bing inside if it was 40 degrees out, but what about night time? First of all, not all college kids go "home" for the summer. The ones that do go home, wtf ? they go right back to their old room, you know the place they locked their door and looked at porn 24/7 when they were in highschool. Sorry don't follow the logic here.

For example ask most any Hotel owner in Orlando, FL.
or for that matter any theme park here such as Disney World or Sea World. VERY SEASONAL!
Furthermore, I am one of the largest exporters of cut floral greens (mainly Salal) into the European market. Mainly into the Nederlands and Deutchland markets which are the two largest and supply most of Europe.
During the Summer months when the weather is warm and people are taking advantage of being outside, the flower & cut greens market drops in half. Normally people are stuck inside and in their culture company always brings over some fresh cut flowers & greens when they visit friends and whatnot.
This can all be verified 100% in black and white, so if you wish to put your money where your mouth is just say the word. I'd be glad to take your money.

but they do exist, and they exist because of many of the factors discussed in this thread.
if you want the straight scoop on seasonal variability you need to talk to major e-commerce billing companies that handle predominately jackoff type porn.
(ccbill, etc)
and, to get accurate data this would have to be based on total dollar gross/# of accounts.
and i suspect they won't tell you.
there is a seasonal slowdown for whack type porn.
june is slowest month on average, july almost as bad, and things begin to improve about 10 days after college kids go back to school and get settled into their routine.
